Addressing the federal cabinet meeting, he said: “We have to decide whether we save Pakistan or allow sit-ins to take place.” The premier said that no one ever imagined launching an “onslaught” on Islamabad before, stressing that tough decisions will have to be taken now through mutual consultation. “We have two paths which we can take, and it is obvious that we have to take the path of development and prosperity,” he said. The prime minister said that once again an assault was mounted on Islamabad, but on the previous (Tuesday) night, all the law enforcement agencies had collectively and with good strategy dispersed the protest and provided relief to the public. He also particularly mentioned that the army chief also extended cooperation over the law and order situation in the federal capital, while the intelligence agencies also played their part. The forum demanded a high-level judicial investigation to determine the government’s role in the ‘criminal massacre’ of unarmed citizens who came to Islamabad for peaceful protest. We both escaped unhurt luckily in the federal capital, which is supposed to symbolise national unity,” he alleged. Gandapur added: “If a chief minister narrowly escapes bullets during a peaceful protest, one can only imagine the brutalities faced by ordinary party workers and protesters.” He emphasized that PTI’s ongoing peaceful sit-in in the federal capital was for the supremacy of law and the Constitution and for securing Imran Khan’s release. “We firmly stand with our workers who have faced bullets for Imran Khan and those who have been arrested will be provided legal assistance by party lawyers for security their early release,” Gandapur said. During the press conference, which turned into a public gathering, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Umar Ayub accused the Punjab police of entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to arrest PTI workers. “We are going to file an FIR against the Punjab police for crossing into KP’s jurisdiction and arresting our workers,” he said. Umar Ayub demanded an impartial inquiry into the killing of members of the Rangers force. He alleged that he, like other party leaders, narrowly escaped direct fire. “We will not allow the federal government to continue killing our workers without accountability,” he added. Hundreds of schools in England will soon offer 30 minutes of free childcare every morning as the government pushes forward with its breakfast club programme with the launch of a new trial. Applications are now open for 750 state schools with primary aged-pupils to join the “early adopter scheme”, with the first breakfast clubs expected to be running from April, the Department for Education (DfE) said. The clubs will provide a free breakfast as well as valuable extra childcare before the school day begins. In last month's Budget, Chancellor Rachel Reeves revealed that the government's investment in breakfast clubs would receive a significant boost, tripling to over £30 million by 2025/26. People across the country and the world are reflecting on former President Jimmy Carter and his life, which was full of achievements. He died at the age of 100 at his longtime home in Plains, Georgia . According to an agency history , developments in Cold War diplomacy contributed to more wartime hazard planning. The leader at the time, retired Army officer Louis Giuffrida, made it to be the longest-serving head of FEMA, but questionable actions and congressional investigation ultimately led to his resignation in 1985. The agency once again fell into the pattern where it was anyone’s gig, but a disaster known as Hurricane Hugo in 1989 served as a reminder of the importance of a functioning FEMA. Similar to Hurricane Hugo, the response to the catastrophe was considered inadequate and had local, state and even some federal officials asking if the agency’s response made the disaster even worse. A federal investigation into the agency’s response found that plans for disasters were not adequate, local governments were overwhelmed and the movement of materials and personnel into the impact zone was too slow. The administration of President Bill Clinton brought a slew of new faces into the federal government, including James Lee Witt. The Arkansan knew a thing or two about emergency services and was appointed as the sixth permanent administrator of FEMA. Similar to other leaders of the agency, Mother Nature did not provide a grace period for Witt, as hurricanes, massive floods and West Coast earthquakes left few areas of the country unaffected. One of the largest disasters was the Great Flood of 1993, which impacted nearly a dozen states and caused damages of more than $15 billion across the Midwest. During the recovery, officials lauded FEMA’s response and confidence grew in Witt being the right person to lead the agency. After Witt’s reign, the agency would go on to have many ups and downs, including what news organizations reported was a botched response to Hurricane Katrina , which struck the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29, 2005.
