The Karnataka high court on Friday dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by former MP Prajwal Revanna in a rape case involving a former member of the Hassan zilla panchayat. Justice M Nagaprasanna, presiding over a single-judge bench, announced the reserved order on Revanna’s application. During the hearing, G Arun, counsel for the petitioner, sought to withdraw the earlier bail plea, arguing that no charge sheet has been filed in the case. However, the court dismissed the application, stating that the decision was based on the complaint alone and not the absence of a charge sheet. “You can rest assured not a word from the charge sheet I have relied on. Only on the complaint. The application has been dismissed only on the basis of the complaint and Supreme Court’s judgments,” a news portal, Bar and Bench, quoted the high court. The allegations dated back to 2021 when the victim approached Revanna at his office in Hassan to discuss hostel facilities for girls at the BCM hostel. According to the complaint, Revanna asked the woman to come back the next day due to his busy schedule. When she returned, he allegedly pointed a gun at her, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her. The woman claimed that Revanna recorded the act on his mobile phone, later making repeated video calls, coercing her to undress, and recorded the interactions. She alleged that he threatened her with severe consequences if she disclosed the incidents. The woman filed a formal complaint with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 1, 2024, leading to the registration of a case at the cyber police station of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bengaluru. Revanna has been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, criminal intimidation, sexual harassment, voyeurism, and assault to disrobe a woman. Additionally, provisions of the Information Technology Act have been invoked for privacy violations. This case is one of four rape cases filed against the 33-year-old former MP across Bengaluru and Hassan districts. On November 11, the Supreme Court dismissed Revanna’s bail applications in connection with other related cases. The mounting legal troubles have placed significant pressure on the once-prominent political figure as investigations continue.A group of young men got a jump start on their Christmas shopping on Nov. 24 by walking out of the Mount Pleasant Dick's Sporting Goods with a cart full of unpaid fleece sweaters, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department. The Dick's store manager relayed details of the crime to officers that saw a quartet of Black males enter and exit the Bowman Road site at different times. One of the individuals was seen leaving the store with a cart containing about $1,000 worth of clothing. One of the responding officers recalled seeing three of the four suspects walk in front of his car about 15 to 20 minutes before the reported theft in the same retail area. In a corresponding police incident report, the officer detailed that alleged thieves were witnessed exiting a black Honda sedan near Nordstrom Rack. Immediately following the alleged robbery, the lawman reported the sight of an empty Dick's shopping cart in the same spot where the Honda was parked. In a failed attempt to obtain video footage of the accused males walking out of their car, police were told by a Nordstrom Rack employee that the camera operator wasn't present. Similarly, Dick's Sporting Goods would not allow thier store manager to release any clips to the authorities. However, police were assured by Dick's that they would receive the requested video in a secured file. No arrests have been made while the MPPD gathers evidence.

Lease and Maintenance Subscription Plans for Fleets: Simplifying OperationsPresident-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday his intent to nominate Charles Kushner, the father of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, as the U.S. ambassador to France. Trump called Charles Kushner a “tremendous business leader, philanthropist & dealmaker” who would be a “strong advocate” for American interests in France in a post on Truth Social. Kushner is a well-known businessman and the founder of the real estate firm Kushner Companies. Jared Kushner, his son, was one of Trump's top advisors while he was president. The Kushner and Trump families are intimately related as a result of Jared's marriage to Ivanka Trump, the president-elect's eldest daughter. A Controversial Past Charles Kushner has a contentious past. He was found guilty on 18 charges in 2005, including witness tampering and tax evasion. An attempt to intimidate his brother-in-law, who had assisted federal investigators in a corruption probe, was the basis for the case against Kushner. In order to discreetly videotape the meeting and send it to his sister, the man's wife, Kushner had a prostitute entice his brother-in-law to a hotel room in New Jersey. Kushner received the maximum term permitted by his plea agreement, two years in jail. But it was a far lesser punishment than U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, who led the prosecution, had requested. Christie subsequently said that Jared Kushner was involved in his termination from Trump's 2016 transition team. In December 2020, Trump granted Charles Kushner a pardon, praising his charitable work and financial acumen. Given Kushner's criminal history, some have questioned whether the pardon was appropriate, and the decision has been controversial. Albania on Saturday banned TikTok for one year as Prime Minister Edi Rama blamed the platform for fueling violence among youth in and outside school. The move comes after a 14-year-old schoolboy was stabbed to death in November by a classmate. Local media had said the incident was a result of arguments between the two boys on social media. “It’s much stronger, far more influential, and far more enticing to a child when the ‘neighborhood troublemaker’ they follow on TikTok is more appealing than the values we want to instill at home. And we fear that when our children leave the house, that’s the influence they’ll connect with,” Rama said at a meeting with parents groups and teachers in the capital Tirana. A new action plan aimed at strengthening school safety mechanisms and enhancing the relationship between schools, students, and parents was presented at the event. “We will block TikTok for one year ... it will take us about 6 to 8 weeks to implement this, and within one year, we will completely block TikTok in the Republic of Albania. TikTok will no longer be accessible here!” he added. Khawaja Asif accuses PTI of seeking US backing for power Rama said that during the year, Albania will monitor how other countries respond, what new technological restrictions or filters emerge, and how TikTok itself will react. “What’s important to note is that we’re extending our efforts for children beyond just this issue. Every ministry and institution in the Republic of Albania will be required to have its own program for children, regardless of the area of focus. This is not just about one issue; it’s about a broader strategy for our youth,” the premier added. Several European countries have enforced restrictions on social media use for children. Australia in November approved a complete social media ban for children under 16. TikTok, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, has also faced accusations of espionage in the US and is under investigation by the EU over alleged election interference in Romania.
Fifteen of Ukraine's civilian airports have been damaged since Russia invaded the country in February 2022, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has been quoted as saying by local media. Ukraine, which the state aviation service says has 20 civilian airports, has been exploring avenues to partially open its airspace. It has been completely closed since the start of the war. Ukrainians who want to fly abroad currently have to go via road or rail to neighbouring countries to catch flights. For those living in the east, the journey out of Ukraine can take a day in itself. "We conducted a risk assessment and determined the needs of the air defence forces to partially open the airspace," local news agency Ukrinform quoted Shmyhal as saying at a transportation conference. "Security issues and the military situation remain key to this decision," he said. Shmyhal added that Russia had attacked Ukraine's port infrastructure nearly 60 times in the last three months, damaging or destroying nearly 300 facilities and 22 civilian vessels. A senior partner at insurance broker Marsh McLennan told Reuters earlier this month that Ukraine could reopen the airport in the western city of Lviv in 2025 if regulators deem it safe and a political decision is made. The Ukrainian military on Saturday reported heavy fighting along the front lines in the eastern Donbas region as Russia continued to launch attacks. Fierce clashes were reported in the key areas of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove, which are the focal point of the Russian advance in eastern Ukraine. A breakthrough would pave the way for the Russian forces to advance towards the strategic cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. However, Ukrainian military experts say the front in the Donbas region has stabilised after Ukraine deployed reinforcements to the area. In total, the General Staff in Kyiv recorded 153 engagements along the front lines. with DPA
