And no, you don't have to look in the market's trash heap to find a bargain. There routinely are high-quality names on sale. For example, Meta Platforms ( META 1.32% ) and Adobe ( ADBE 0.27% ) are among the world's most prominent tech companies. Yet their stocks are priced right for buyers today. Despite both stocks trading at similar affordable valuations, they've had very different years. Meta trades near an all-time high, while Adobe is on a 30% decline. Find out what's happening with each tech stock and what makes them compelling buys for 2025. Meta is a case where buying into momentum can make you lots of money Most stocks don't appear on buying lists like this after appreciating almost 400% in under two years. But Meta Platforms is built differently. It's become hard for the stock to keep up with Meta's core business: advertising to the 3.29 billion people who use social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads daily. The company will generate around $163 billion in revenue this year, almost 21% more than in 2023. Meta is highly profitable, with about a third of that winding up as free cash flow . Assuming it eventually does, it could add a new level of growth to an already excellent business. Don't hesitate to buy Meta at highs, because it has the fundamentals to more than justify its current value. Adobe is a tantalizing bargain after becoming an unpopular name on Wall Street Adobe is one of the world's largest technology companies, offering cloud-based creativity software, including: Creative Cloud: design, image, and video creation and editing tools Document Cloud: a platform for creating and editing PDF documents Experience Cloud: tools and services for marketing and customer relationship management (CRM) The company generates $21.5 billion in annual revenue, converting over 36% of that into free cash flow. However, the stock has sold off this year as potential threats to Adobe's business emerge. The political affairs office of the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the rebel group that led the lightning offensive to topple Assad’s government, said the group had secured the release of U.S. citizen Travis Timmerman. In interviews with media in Syria, Timmerman said he was imprisoned after crossing from Lebanon into Syria on a Christian pilgrimage. He appeared to be among the thousands of people released from Syria's sprawling military prisons this week after rebels reached Damascus, overthrowing Assad and ending his family’s 54-year rule. “We affirm our readiness to cooperate directly with the U.S. administration to complete the search for American citizens disappeared by the former Assad regime,” the group said, adding that a search was underway for Austin Tice, an American journalist who went missing in Syria 12 years ago. Al-Rifai said it was hard to communicate because of the language barrier but it seemed Timmerman had been held by an internal security agency. A few hours after al-Rifai discovered him, rebels arrived at the family’s house to pick him up, he said. Mouaz Mostafa, the executive director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a U.S.-based nonprofit group, said he met Timmerman at the house and arranged for a car to take him to Damascus, where the new authorities gave the ex-detainee food and water and brought him clothes and shoes. Timmerman had lice in his long, unkempt hair, Mostafa said, and reported walking for 13 miles barefoot before being discovered. Timmerman — now recovering until the rebels can figure out how to hand him to U.S. authorities — was planning to get to Jordan after his release to obtain a new passport, Mostafa said. The NFL has instituted several rules to protect quarterbacks but football is a physical sport and players have to react instantly and make split-second decisions going at high speeds so injuries keep occurring. Lawrence was carted off the field in the first half of Jacksonville’s 23-20 loss to Houston on Sunday after Azeez Al-Shaair leveled the defenseless quarterback with a forearm to the facemask. The late hit put Lawrence in the fencing position — both fists clenched — and he stayed on the ground for several minutes, while a brawl ensued. Lawrence didn’t require hospitalization for his concussion but it’s unknown when he’ll return. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out/been praying for me,” Lawrence wrote on X. “I’m home and feeling better. Means a lot, thank you all.” Al-Shaair was ejected from the game and faces a fine and potential suspension after his latest unsportsmanlike penalty. The Texans' linebacker was flagged and later fined $11,255 for a late hit out of bounds on Titans running back Tony Pollard last week.
