Barry Keoghan responds to rumours following Sabrina Carpenter split Barry Keoghan reacts to being ‘dragged’ on social media after breakup Barry Keoghan broke his silence on the rumours circulating online after his recent split with popstar Sabrina Carpenter. The 32-year-old deactivated his Instagram account on Saturday, December 7th and made a statement on X regarding the backlash. “I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don't respond too,” the Irish actor penned in a lengthy statement. “I have to respond now because it's gettin to a place where there are too many lines being crossed,” he continued. Discussing his disappearance from Instagram, the Saltburn star wrote, “I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.” “Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for. Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannies door.” “Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them. Thats crossing a line. Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what.” The Banshees of Inisherin actor concluded the statement by writing, “I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all. Thank u x.” This comes after Barry deactivated his Instagram account following his split from the Espresso hitmaker. (AP) — Defending the run has been one of the Green Bay Packers’ weaknesses over the last several years. Not so much lately, though. Green Bay limited San Francisco to 16 carries for 44 yards in a 38-10 rout of the 49ers on Nov. 24, with two-time All-Pro Christian McCaffrey gaining 31 yards on 11 attempts. Four nights later, the Packers beat Miami 30-17 by holding the Dolphins to 39 yards on 14 carries. It was the first time since 1995 — and only the second time since 1950 — that the Packers had allowed fewer than 45 yards rushing in back-to-back games within the same season. “I think we’re playing harder and harder each week,” first-year defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley said. “And that’s how you play good defense.” That defense needs to be at its best Thursday as the Packers (9-3) close a stretch of three games in 12 days by visiting the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions (12-1), who have the NFL’s highest-scoring offense thanks in part to a rushing attack featuring the speedy Jahmyr Gibbs and the physical David Montgomery. “Gibbs is a great running back,” defensive lineman Kenny Clark said. “I really think the offense really starts with him, honestly. He can do everything — receive, in-and-out runner, can do stretch, duo plays. We’ve got to have all hands on deck with Gibbs. And then Montgomery, he’s a great complement to him. He can do everything, also.” The Lions were the first team since the 1975 Miami Dolphins to rush for at least 100 yards and a touchdown in each of their first 11 games. The streak ended on Thanksgiving when the Lions rushed for 194 yards but didn’t have a touchdown on the ground in a 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears. Green Bay outrushed Detroit 138-124 in the Packers’ 24-14 loss to the Lions on Nov. 3 at Lambeau Field. Montgomery rushed for 73 yards while Gibbs ran for 65 yards and a touchdown. Gibbs has 973 yards this season, which ranks fourth in the NFL. Montgomery ran for a combined 192 yards and four touchdowns in the Lions’ two games against the Packers last season. Green Bay’s run defense has come a long way since. The Packers have allowed 106.6 yards rushing per game this season, which ranks eighth in the league. The Packers haven’t closed a season in the top 10 in run defense since 2016 and have finished outside the top 20 in four of the last six years, including 26th in 2022 and 28th in 2023. “I think Haf’s doing a good job of mixing up the fronts and some of the coverages, but really it’s ultimately about tackling, swarming, getting many hats to the football,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “And our guys have really embraced that style of play.” The Packers are yielding 4.2 yards per carry to rank seventh in the league after finishing 22nd or worst in that category each of the last three seasons. They haven’t closed a season ranked in the top 10 in yards allowed per carry since 2017. Hafley says the improvement starts up front. “The interior part of our D-line has done such a good job these last few games,” Hafley said. “They really have. They’re hard to block. They’re staying in their gaps. They’re tearing off of blocks, and it’s the same thing with those defensive ends. They’re setting edges, they’re forcing the ball back inside, they’re getting off blocks and then we’re tackling and we’re running to the ball and there’s multiple people to the ball. “And when you turn on our tape right now and when you freeze it, you see that. You see a lot of guys around the football. And then you’re not afraid, right? Like if I have an open-field tackle and I know eight other guys are coming, I’m going to take my shot because I know if I miss, it’s going to be, ‘Bang, bang, bang,’ we’ve got three or four other guys there, and we’re starting to play faster.” Green Bay's defense has the Lions’ attention. “They’ve been playing well,” Detroit coach Dan Campbell said. “I mean, they have, really, all season, and nothing has changed.” AP Sports Writer Larry Lage contributed to this report. Former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz revealed Friday some of the reasoning behind his decision to withdraw from the attorney general nomination process, saying some senators “had an ax to grind” against him. President-elect Donald Trump Thursday in a post on Truth Social, “I greatly appreciate the recent efforts of Matt Gaetz in seeking approval to be Attorney General. He was doing very well but, at the same time, did not want to be a distraction for the Administration, for which he has much respect.” Gaetz began earlier in the week meeting with senators whose approval he would need in order to be confirmed as AG. “I enjoyed the time on the Hill, frankly, talking with senators, and we had great momentum,” he told Real America’s Voice host on Friday. “While our discussions were going well, I found myself having to do two jobs at one time,” he added. “I had a full-time job explaining to senators that maybe a tweet I sent about them was rash and not reflective of how I would serve as attorney general. “And at the same time, I was having to build out the Department of Justice with the right human talent, [and] the right policy infrastructure.” Gaetz recounted that Trump’s new pick to head the DOJ, former Florida Attorney General , will not have the same distractions. “It won’t take the same long process” to get her confirmed, the former congressman argued. Matt Gaetz is currently at Mar-a-Lago, helping build an “America First Army” to take over the DOJ. “You and I have been very involved at Mar-a-Lago at finding patriotic Americans who want to do incredible service, not for themselves, for the country, and putting them in a... — George (@BehizyTweets) Gaetz who led the effort to have former House Speaker removed in 2023 had created animosity on Capitol Hill toward himself. “I was dealing with a politically motivated body. They didn’t like me because of what I did to Kevin McCarthy,” Gaetz said, according to . “And they had an ax to grind. So that was going to serve as at least enough of a basis to delay my confirmation as attorney general.” The America First firebrand also revealed to Kirk that he will not be seeking to return to the House to serve in the next Congress in January. When Gaetz resigned his seat, it was from the current 118th Congress. “I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress,” he said. “There are a number of fantastic Floridians who stepped up to run for my seat, people who have inspired with their heroism, with their public service. And I’m actually excited to see Northwest Florida go to new heights and have great representation,” Gaetz added. JUST IN: Matt Gaetz tells Charlie Kirk that he does *not* intend on joining the 119th Congress, hints he has other plans “from a new perch.” The statement comes after Gaetz withdrew his name from the AG nomination. “I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from... — Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) “I’m 42 now, and I’ve got other goals in life that I’m eager to pursue — my wife and my family — and so I’m going to be fighting for President Trump,” he said. “I’m going to be doing whatever he asks of me, as I always have. But I think that eight years is probably enough time in the United States Congress.” Prior to his decision to resign, Gaetz had faced the prospect of having a report released. The panel had been investigating allegations that he paid a 17-year-old girl to have sex with him at a party in 2017. The DOJ had also investigated Gaetz for alleged sex trafficking allegations but in 2023 bringing no charges. He told Kirk the allegations were false and an attempt to smear him, reported. “[I]f the things that the House Ethics report [said] were true, I would be under indictment and probably in a prison cell,” Gaetz said. “But of course, they’re false, because when you test them against other records, when you test them against other testimony, it all falls apart very quickly.” We are committed to truth and accuracy in all of our journalism. NASCAR's Shane van Gisbergen stoked for fellow Kiwi Liam Lawson's progress in F1Former Leicester City star Danny Simpson has revealed UFC star Paddy Pimblett will be his new training partner after the Premier League winner made his boxing debut. Simpson etched his name into Premier League history after being part of Leicester's stunning title triumph in 2015-16 but has since retired from football and taken up boxing. His first fight on the Misfits boxing card was against YouTuber Danny Aarons in August, with judges unable to separate the pair after scoring the contest as a split draw. Simpson was a relieved man that the fight didn't end in defeat after agreeing to wager his Premier League winners' medal against Aarons, who also bet his YouTube play button award for reaching 1million followers. Now the 37-year-old is upping the ante in his fighting career after announcing he will begin working with UFC fighter Pimblett as he bids to build on his draw against Aarons. Pimblett is one of UFC's most exciting fighters after enjoying a run of eight straight victories. The Liverpudlian secured an impressive win over King Green in July and is currently taking some time out of the ring. And it looks like Paddy "The Baddy" will be helping prepare Simpson for his next bout after the former right-back posted a picture of the pair together on social media. Simpson uploaded the picture on Instagram , showing the pair smiling while enjoying some drinks on a night out. He wrote: "Meet my new training partner," while tagging Pimblett. He is still looking for a new opponent but has teased a rematch with Aarons after an even contest that he believes he won. Speaking after his fight this summer, he said: "I'm obviously going to say that I thought I nicked it. This week has been one of the craziest weeks of my life. "We said we were going to have fun in here and I think we did. I think Danny knows I tried to jump in last minute and tried to do everything I could in the five weeks. Maybe I'll have the chance to have a full camp and I'd love to come back and have another go." Simpson started his career with Manchester United but only played three times for the Red Devils and ended up starring for a total of 10 clubs, including Newcastle United, QPR and Huddersfield Town.
