But unfortunately we are losing our destiny by our negligence and the misbehaving of some of our institutions and there is absolutely nobody to stop them as we all are feeling helpless and hopeless. When Pakistan was in the making there were so many leaders and ulema who were discouraging, and opposing the rationale of Pakistan. However, the great leader, the Quaid-e-Azam, was very much clear in his mind to the follow the two-nation theory. The Quaid Azam made it possible which had seemed to be impossible, and the whole world recognised Pakistan including our diehard enemies and conspirators. Pakistan has everything and every right to grow and develop as an advanced country, but can’t move ahead due to some internal conspiracies of our esteemed institutions and some visible and invisible external friends who desire Pakistan to remain as a poor and dependent country. These countries claimed to be very sincere and are shown like brothers, but they included those who are continuously busy in hatching many killing conspiracies and carrying out diplomacy to ensure our failure. At the same time these countries grant some financial assistance to Pakistan so that they can’t be recognised and their real face couldn’t be disclosed. These countries used our political and departmental leaderships to destroy our way of prosperity by accepting and gaining some personal gifts and invisible benefits so our these leaders understood that they are doing a wonderful job for Pakistan. And this is not happening the first time, it happened so many times and every time Pakistan pulled back to 50 years, however our leaders including officers became billionaires and they left the country and settled in Europe after retirement, as did political leadership. At the same time Pakistan suffered a big financial and political crises or even collapse. The whole system of Pakistan, including the Supreme Court and High Courts and poor public, has to face unbearable price hike, inflation, joblessness, indiscipline, lawlessness, currency consistently devaluing and everywhere frustrations and disappointment. Hundreds of thousands of young boys migrated to Europe and other countries but neither political nor departmental officers (the establishment) had any regrets or felt the defeat of Pakistan. Rather all look busy for another similar episode as it is being repeated so many times and every time Pakistan loses and they, foreign friends and our leaders win to be billionaires. Interestingly, nobody is there to think about a poor man or the public. Pakistan lost many heroes and leaders for this and ready for next time, only faces may change but script and story is the same even the result is also the same and this friendly conspiracy of our foreign friends used to happen in so many other countries like Iraq, Egypt, Sudan and so on Now we are seeking a new Quaid-e-Azam for Pakistan to desire for visionary and principled leadership similar to that of the founder of the nation. The Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership was defined by his steadfast commitment to democracy, rule of law, and the betterment of all citizens, regardless of faith or background. We are in need of such leadership today and Pakistan would benefit from a leader who is transparent, stands against corruption, and builds trust through honest governance. A leader who works to bridge divisions, foster national unity, and create a society where diversity is respected. A forward-thinking leader who focuses on education, economic development, and technological advancement, and upholding the rule of law and reinforcing an independent judiciary to protect democracy and citizens’ rights. The challenge lies in finding or cultivating such a leader within the current political, social, and economic landscape. This requires civic engagement, reforms, and fostering a culture that rewards merit, innovation, and ethical conduct and an independent foreign policy and diplomacy of other friendly countries not to interfere in our internal matters, politics and specially in our establishments. The leader who identifies who is loyal to Pakistan and who is not loyal and at the same time makes laws to control our officers who joined hands with other countries and received highly valuable gifts and invisible benefits from these countries to destroy Pakistan. WASHINGTON — Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched multiple drones and a missile at three commercial ships being escorted in the Gulf of Aden by U.S. Navy ships, a U.S. official said Tuesday. Protesters climbed the square's central monument to wave the Syrian revolutionary flag. On the ground, crowds chanted: “Out with Bashar! QAMISHLI, Syria — Residents of northeast Syria in the area around Qamishli airport said Tuesday they heard explosions overnight after an airstrike hit trucks loaded with rockets and ammunition that were heading to a military base in Tartab. “We don’t know the story. It was only in the morning when we realized they are trucks loaded with ammunition, leftovers of the former army, the regime,” said Ibrahim al-Thalaj, who lives near the base. He said residents assumed that the strikes were Israeli. Israel has carried out a heavy wave of airstrikes across Syria targeting military infrastructure after Syrian insurgents toppled the government of Bashar Assad. However, Turkish security officials said Tuesday that the strike in Qamishli was carried out by Turkey, targeting weapons and ammunition that were abandoned by the Syrian army and seized by Syrian Kurdish militants. BRUSSELS — The European Union’s top diplomat is concerned that Syria might violently fall apart like neighboring Iraq, or Libya and Afghanistan if its territorial integrity and the rights of minorities are not protected. “The transition will present huge challenges in Syria and in the region,” EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas told European lawmakers on Tuesday during a special hearing. “There are legitimate concerns about the risks of sectarian violence, extremist resurgence and the governance vacuum, all of which must be averted. ANKARA, Turkey — Turkey’s intelligence agency, MIT, has attacked a convoy of trucks that was allegedly carrying missiles, heavy weapons and ammunition that were abandoned by the Syrian government and reportedly seized by Syrian Kurdish militias, Turkish security officials said Tuesday. The officials said 12 trucks, two tanks and two ammunition depots were “destroyed” in aerial strikes in the city of Qamishli, near the border with Turkey in northeast Syria. The officials provided the information on condition of anonymity in line with Turkish regulations. They did not say when the attack occurred. The officials said the intelligence agency detected that weapons left by the Syrian government forces were being moved to warehouses belonging to the Syrian Kurdish People’s Defense Units, or YPG. Turkey views the group as a terrorist organization because of its links to the banned Kurdish militants that have led a decadeslong insurgency in Turkey. According to the officials, he group was allegedly planning to use the equipment and supplies against Turkish security forces. He declined to detail and U.S. intelligence cooperation with the Israelis that went into the strikes. Kirby said the White House was reasserting its support of the 1974 Golan Heights disengagement agreement, but didn’t criticize the Israeli seizure of the demilitarized zone. He was not specific about which groups the U.S. would work with. Shibani was released from prison a week before the capital Damascus fell, after he served two years on charges of buying his motorcycle using foreign currency on accusations he was dealing in dollars. He was tortured for 15 days and and given a quick trial where he was sentenced for two years, he said. He was released the day Aleppo fell to the insurgents. “Everything was banned in Syria. The (Assad loyalists) only could use it,” Shibani said. He said he has never been to this neighborhood, because it was taken over by Assad, his family and supporters. “For 50 years, my family’s house is near here, and we don’t know anything about it. ... The Syrian people had been oppressed, you can’t imagine.” Shibani said he has no fear of the rebel newcomers who have taken control of the country. “We are not afraid. There can be no one more unjust than Bashar. Impossible.” BEIRUT — Lebanon’s prime minister is in contact with security and judicial officials to follow up on reports that senior members of President Bashar Assad’s government have fled to Lebanon. Najib Mikati’s office quoted him as saying that Lebanon abides by international laws regarding people who cross its borders. Rami Abdurrahman of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, said that several top security officials have entered Lebanon over the past two days. Abdurrahman added that Syria’s former intelligence chief Ali Mamlouk, who is wanted in Lebanon over two bombings in 2012 in the northern city of Tripoli that killed dozens, was allegedly brought to Lebanon by the Hezbollah militant group and was staying in a southern suburb of Beirut where the group has deep support. GENEVA — The United Nations says humanitarian operations in two major areas in northwestern Syria have resumed, deploying food, medical supplies, fuel and other needed services and supplies. Spokesman Jens Laerke of the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that some health facilities were “overwhelmed” – in part due to staff shortages – and many border crossings have been closed, disrupting supply chains. OCHA said humanitarian operations in some parts of northwestern Syria were put on hold in the early days of the recent escalation, and resumed on Monday. “As of yesterday, all humanitarian organizations in Idlib and northern Aleppo have resumed operations,” Laerke told reporters at a U.N. briefing in Geneva. He said the three border crossings from Turkey used by the U.N. to deliver assistance into Syria remain open and “we are providing assistance in the northwest, including to those who have been newly displaced.” Even before the latest escalation, which led President Bashar Assad to flee the country, nearly 17 million people in Syria needed humanitarian assistance. The S&P/TSX composite index ended up 97.84 points at 24,846.82, as most sectors rose other than telecoms and health care. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 390.08 points at 43,297.03. The S&P 500 index was up 65.97 points at 6,040.04, while the Nasdaq composite was up 266.24 points at 20,031.13. The gains added to increases in recent days to help offset the drop in markets last week after the U.S. Federal Reserve released its latest outlook. The climb however was more likely related to year-end balancing than any change in sentiment, said Dustin Reid, chief fixed income strategist at Mackenzie Investments. “I think it’s mostly just year-end flows that are driving it. I don’t think there’s anything that’s particularly reversed in terms of sentiments since the Fed meeting,” said Reid. There’s reallocation by geography, moving asset classes and other adjustments to align portfolios that is likely affecting markets, he said. “I find that price action around month end, quarter end, and year-end, you shouldn’t try and ascribe a ton of fundamental cause as to why things are moving, because there’s a lot of flows happening below the surface that are probably driving the price action that are not necessarily fundamentally based.” The U.S. Fed guided for only two rate cuts in 2025 at its Dec. 18 meeting, which pushed down markets for the day. But Reid said the guidance was largely in line with expectations, and the strong U.S. economy has likely since helped boost markets. The Canadian market, meanwhile, might be benefiting a little from the expectations of even more rate cuts needed here than expected as the economy is showing softness.
