Alabama football has 11 names in the NCAA transfer portal, including seven from its offense. Justice Haynes, a former five-star in the 2023 class from Buford, Ga., became the latest name Friday to enter the portal. The talented running back recorded 168 yards rushing and two touchdowns as a freshman on Alabama’s 2023 Southeastern Conference Championship team. Nick Sabam was giddy about Haynes in spring practice and his excitement for him continued into the season. Much was expected from Haynes this season and he totaled seven rushing scores and 448 yards, but did he have enough opportunities to showcase his talents? Statistics would say no as he averaged six carries per game. He is heading to place where he can be the featured back, but what does it mean for Alabama’s running back room? Jam Miller is the featured guy in the backfield. He finished the regular season with 641 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 135 carries. The coaching staff trusted Miller more with the ball as he averaged nearly 12 carries a game (11.25). He was an exceptional pass-blocker and caught 13 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. If Miller chooses to forgo the NFL Draft and return for his senior season, he would be the biggest voice in the running back room. Richard Young, a former 5-star from the 2023 class, would be the next important back. Young, a native Floridian, would be fully healthy next season — starting in the spring. He was banged up at times this season; however, he finished with 25 carries for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Young brings a physicality to him, but he also has some speed. He needs to develop more breakaway speed on big runs to be a home run hitter. Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley were freshmen this season, but now it’s time for them to be called on more. Hill, a native Mississippian, has a rushing touchdown as a power back. Riley, a Tuscaloosa native, has more speed and explosiveness. Alabama also has Akylin Dear, a freshman signee from Mississippi, in the room too. It will be interesting to see how he fits the rotation. It does not feel good to lose Haynes, but Alabama has not had a game-breaker at running back since Jahmyr Gibbs. Miller will be good for the Tide and Young has the potential, but should Alabama hit the portal for a back? We will see what the coaches do. Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to increase the pension for specially-abled persons to Rs 3,000 from Rs 1,000, Health and Social Welfare Minister Sakina Itoo said on Sunday. She said Rs 1,000 is a "meagre amount" and the planned increase would alleviate the financial burden on the families that are taking care of differently-abled members. "The Omar-led government is committed to addressing all issues faced by people, especially the specially-abled community. We are working to increase the disability pension from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 per month," Itoo told reporters here. She further informed that a proposal has been moved and is under process. "We are working fast on increasing the amount from Rs 1000 to Rs 3000. Very soon, we will finalise it," she assured. During a visit to the artificial limbs camp organised by Shree Atam Vallabh Jain Clinic at Brahman Sabha Parade, she commended the community's service to humanity through such initiatives and assured her full support for future endeavours. It comes as the 27-year-old revealed the extreme dit measures he is taking while away from partner Mary Fowler on the comeback trail. Talagi, who crossed to the reigning champions from Parramatta, looms as the replacement in the halves for Jarome Luai, the latest in a lengthy line of premiership winners who have left in recent seasons. Both Talagi and superstar Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards have also had shoulder surgery in the off-season, but all could be available for their first game in Las Vegas, with Cleary looking good during Thursday’s session. The four-time premiership winner was with teammates at Nepean Hospital on Friday afternoon spreading Christmas cheer, with the locals stoked to see their main man looking so good just weeks after major surgery to repair a shoulder injury that plagued him in pre-season and ruled him out for a few weeks on the eve of the finals. “It’s pretty much a three or four month recovery so it’s been good so far. I came back to training yesterday (on Thursday) and it’s been good so far,” Cleary told NewsWire. “I’m slowly ticking the boxes and then it’ll start ramping up after Christmas. They were Batman and Robin for so long that everything felt second nature which is why Cleary doesn’t want to make any bold predictions about Talagi who is battling with Jack Cole for the number six jersey. “I don’t have any expectations at the moment,” he said. “He has come back in really good shape for a guy who had his shoulder done a week after me and he’s absolutely flying. “I’ve been getting to know him these past couple of days. He’s actually my locker neighbour so that’s been nice. “He’s a shy young kid but he’s really willing to learn. Jets Road Record Regression Despite their win in Minnesota, Winnipeg’s road record has regressed back towards league average in the last weeks. He is one of the most crucial offensive players in their lineup and a catalyst for the team’s success. Regardless, he leads the King in goals (10) and plus-minus (plus-9) this season and is on pace for a near 40-goal campaign. If Los Angeles is to win this game, Adrian Kempe must be involved offensively. NHL Predictions – Kings vs Jets We expect this game to be a breakthrough game for the big guns on the Jets. They have had tremendous contributions from their depth players over the last while, but this is a game for their stars. They will be uncontrollable in 5 on 5 play and make the difference on the power play. The Jets still boast the top power play unit in the league while Los Angeles sits 28th.
