Currently, personal pension schemes are still in the early stages of development in many countries. However, with the recognition of the importance of personal pension planning, governments and financial institutions are taking steps to promote and enhance the personal pension system. One of the key initiatives in this regard is the full-scale rollout of personal pension plans, which is expected to provide individuals with more choices and flexibility in retirement planning.

In a recent controversial incident that has sparked outrage among the public, a video circulating on social media shows a group of leaders, purportedly from a company in the service industry, mockingly discussing an employee's request for bereavement leave to attend a family funeral. The video, which has since gone viral, captures the leaders making derogatory remarks and insinuating that the employee's request for time off was unwarranted and unnecessary.

Representative-elect Sarah McBride (D-DE) said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Republicans were costing the American worker by debating transgender issues. Host Margaret Brennan said, “Some of your fellow Congressional Democrats including Tom Suozzi and Seth Moulton have spoken about their feelings looking back at the last election and said Democrats should be more open about saying whether they object to transgender athletes playing in girls sports. Those were the specific examples they brought up. How would you respond to your soon-to-be Democratic colleagues on those? Do you understand why some parents, for example, feel uncomfortable or frustrated?” McBride said, “Look, I think this country is still entering into a conversation about who trans people are, the full diversity of the community. I’ve had conversations with colleagues in the Democratic caucus already that span diversity of thought about how the party should engage on a whole host of issues. But I think we are all united, that every single American deserves equal rights. I think we are all united that attempts to attack a vulnerable community are not only mean spirited but really an attempt to misdirect because every single time we hear the incoming administration or Republicans in Congress talk about any vulnerable group in this country, we have to be clear that it is an attempt to distract. It is an attempt to distract from what they are actually doing.” He continued, “Every single time we hear them say the word trans, look at what they’re doing with their right hand. Look at what they’re doing to pick the pocket of American workers, by fleecing seniors by privating Socil Security and Medicare. Look what they are doing undermining workers. Here’s what we have to be clear about, because the last week has been a prime example of this, every bit of time and energy that is used to divert the attention of federal government to go after trans people is time and energy that is not focused on addressing the cost of living for our constituents. And we have clear that there is a real cost for the American worker every time they focus on this.” Follow Pam Key on X @pamkeyNENReal Madrid and Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will be looking to capitalize on any weaknesses displayed by Barcelona and seize the opportunity to overtake them in the standings. The New York Giants benched quarterback Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito hoping for a “spark” to jumpstart the offense and end the five-game losing streak. Instead, New York face-planted against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, wasting everyone’s Sunday with a 30-7 loss . The losing streak has now hit six, and the Week 12 loss might have been the worst of the bunch. Coming off an embarrassing overtime defeat, the Giants had an extra week to prepare for a flawed Buccaneers team. © Chris Pedota, NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The time off didn’t help. Neither did the quarterback change. DeVito completed 21 of 31 attempts for 189 yards and no touchdowns. He was sacked four times behind a declining offensive line, and at no point did the Giants look like an imposing offense. Without a spark to complement it, the defense looked just as disheveled. Four different players rushed for a touchdown and 11 different players caught a pass. Six players had an explosive play to their name. Tampa Bay posted 450 yards and was able to control the game from the start, jumping out to a 23-0 halftime lead. Related: Giants' Tommy DeVito Must Improve One Skill New York was outplayed in every facet. The DeVito era has begun and, just as quickly, showcased how little the quarterback change mattered. This offense is rudderless regardless of who’s under center, and while head coach Brian Daboll gave DeVito the green light for Week 13, it might just be a matter of time before Drew Lock gets the start. For now, DeVito’s reign will continue. That means him and Dallas Cowboys backup Cooper Rush will get the privilege of starting the middle game of Thanksgiving’s three-game slate. Even as both teams look to the 2025 NFL Draft, their Week 12 showings have sent them in opposite directions. America’s Team just shocked the Washington Commanders, pulling off the upset with 60 minutes of chaotic football. New York, meanwhile, laid down and died on the MetLife turf. For the fans eager to get ahead on the class’ quarterbacks, keep watching college football. The Giants aren’t getting better anytime soon. Related: WATCH: Daniel Jones Says Goodbye12. The GOP embrace of Hegseth came as another controversial Trump nominee, Matt Gaetz, withdrew from consideration for attorney general. Gaetz said it was clear he had become a “distraction" amid pressure on the House to release an ethics report about allegations of his own sexual misconduct. An attorney for two women has said that his clients told House Ethics Committee investigators that Gaetz paid them for sex on multiple occasions beginning in 2017, when Gaetz was a Florida congressman. Fresh questions over the two nominees' pasts, and their treatment of women, arose with Republicans under pressure from Trump and his allies to quickly confirm his Cabinet. At the same time, his transition has so far balked at the vetting and background checks that have traditionally been required. While few Republican senators have publicly criticized any of Trump's nominees, it became clear after Gaetz's withdrawal that many had been harboring private concerns about him. Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin, who served with Gaetz in the House, said it was a “positive move.” Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker said it was a “positive development.” Maine Sen. Susan Collins said Gaetz “put country first and I am pleased with his decision.” After meeting with Hegseth, though, Republicans rallied around him. “I think he’s going to be in pretty good shape,” said Wicker, who is expected to chair the Senate Armed Services Committee in the next Congress. Republican senators' careful words, and their early reluctance to publicly question Trump's picks, illustrated not only their fear of retribution from the incoming president but also some of their hopes that the confirmation process can proceed normally, with proper vetting and background checks that could potentially disqualify problematic nominees earlier. Gaetz withdrew after meeting with senators on Wednesday. Sen. Thom Tillis said Gaetz was “in a pressure cooker” when he decided to withdraw, but suggested that it would have little bearing on Trump’s other nominees. “Transactions — one at a time,” he said. As the Hegseth nomination proceeds, Republicans also appear to be betting that they won't face much backlash for publicly setting aside the allegations of sexual misconduct — especially after Trump won election after being found liable for sexual abuse last year. Hegseth held a round of private meetings alongside incoming Vice President JD Vance on Thursday in an attempt to shore up support and told reporters afterward: “The matter was fully investigated and I was completely cleared, and that’s where I’m gonna leave it.” A 22-page police report report made public late Wednesday offered the first detailed account of the allegations against him. A woman told police that she was sexually assaulted in 2017 by Hegseth after he took her phone, blocked the door to a California hotel room and refused to let her leave. The report cited police interviews with the alleged victim, a nurse who treated her, a hotel staffer, another woman at the event and Hegseth. Hegseth’s lawyer, Timothy Palatore, said the incident was “fully investigated and police found the allegations to be false.” Hegseth paid the woman in 2023 as part of a confidential settlement to head off the threat of what he described as a baseless lawsuit, Palatore has said. Wicker played down the allegations against Hegseth, a former Fox News host, saying that “since no charges were brought from the authorities, we only have press reports.” Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., said after his meeting with Hegseth that he "shared with him the fact that I was saddened by the attacks that are coming his way.” Hagerty dismissed the allegations as “a he-said, she-said thing” and called it a “shame” that they were being raised at all. The senator said attention should instead be focused on the Defense Department that Hegseth would head. It's one of the most complex parts of the federal government with more than 3 million employees, including military service members and civilians. Sexual assault has been a persistent problem in the military, though Pentagon officials have been cautiously optimistic they are seeing a decline in reported sexual assaults among active-duty service members and the military academies. Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, who will be the No. 2 Republican in the Senate next year, said after his meeting with Hegseth that the nominee is a strong candidate who “pledged that the Pentagon will focus on strength and hard power – not the current administration’s woke political agenda.” Senate Republicans are under pressure to hold hearings once they take office in January and confirm nominees as soon as Trump is inaugurated, despite questions about whether Trump’s choices will be properly screened or if some, like Hegseth, have enough experience for the job. Senate Armed Services Chairman Jack Reed, who will be the top Democrat on the panel next year, said the reports on Hegseth “emphasized the need for a thorough investigation by the FBI on the background of all the nominees.” It takes a simple majority to approve Cabinet nominations, meaning that if Democrats all opposed a nominee, four Republican senators would also have to defect for any Trump choice to be defeated. Trump has made clear he’s willing to put maximum pressure on Senate Republicans to give him the nominees he wants – even suggesting at one point that they allow him to just appoint his nominees with no Senate votes. But senators insist, for now, that they are not giving up their constitutional power to have a say. “The president has the right to make the nominations that he sees fit, but the Senate also has a responsibility for advice and consent,” said Republican Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota. In the case of Gaetz, he said, “I think there was advice offered rather than consent.” Copyright 2024 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. The Wolfspeed class action lawsuit alleges that defendants throughout the Class Period made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (i) Wolfspeed’s optimistic claims of potential growth of its Mohawk Valley fabrication facility and general demand for Wolfspeed’s 200mm wafers in the electronic vehicle market fell short of reality; and (ii) Wolfspeed had overstated demand for its key product and placed undue reliance on purported design wins while the Mohawk Valley facility’s growth had begun to taper before recognizing the $100 million revenue per quarter allegedly achievable with only 20% utilization of the fabrication, let alone the promised $2 billion revenue purportedly achievable by the facility. The Wolfspeed class action lawsuit further alleges that on November 6, 2024, Wolfspeed announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, revealing that 20% utilization of the Mohawk Valley fabrication facility would result in 30% to 50% below the $100 million mark defendants had claimed, attributing the results and lowered guidance to “demand . . . ramp[ing] more slowly than we originally anticipated” as “EV customers revise their launch time lines as the market works through this transition period.” On this news, the price of Wolfspeed stock fell more than 39%, according to the complaint. McNamara has been sidelined since sustaining a concussion during the Oct. 26 win against Northwestern. Backup quarterback Brendan Sullivan has started the last two games for the Hawkeyes (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) but is out with an ankle injury for Saturday's game at Maryland (4-6, 1-6). Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said earlier this week that Jackson Stratton will be the likely starter against the Terrapins if McNamara is unavailable. McNamara's cloudy status prompted speculation on a podcast this week that he was "not mentally ready to play." The podcast hosts from the Des Moines Register and The Athletic also suggested that McNamara -- who played three years at Michigan (2020-22) before transferring to Iowa -- is not "fit to play quarterback in the Big Ten right now." "We don't want to bury his career yet, but it does seem like that interception against Northwestern was his last snap as a Hawkeye," Leistikow said. McNamara, who passed for 1,017 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games this season, released a statement updating his current status. "My status is the same as it's always been -- a proud member of this football team," he said. McNamara said he has not yet been cleared to play. He said he was cleared to practice on Sunday but suffered an "adverse reaction" and was unable to practice this week and therefore unable to travel with the team to Maryland. "I have been working with the University of Iowa doctors and trainers, a concussion specialist focused on vision training, as well as engaging in hyperbaric treatments as frequently as possible," McNamara said. "I have every intention to play versus Nebraska next Friday night and I am confident that my teammates will return from Maryland with a win." Including his time with the Wolverines, McNamara has completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 4,703 yards with 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 34 games. --Field Level Media
