Several times following New England’s 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo said he wanted to review the game film before making a final assessment of his team’s performance. Two men are going to prison after being convicted of molesting their two adoptive sons, Georgia officials said. In July 2022, Walton County deputies were contacted about child sexual abuse material uploaded to a Google account, according to a Dec. 23 news release by the Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. Deputies met with Hunter Lawless, who is accused of admitting to receiving the child abuse material from Zachary Zulock, officials said. Lawless pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children and was sentenced, officials said. McClatchy News reached out to the Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office on Dec. 23 to clarify his sentencing and was awaiting a response. Police performed a search warrant on the home of Zachary Jacoby Zulock and William Dale Zulock and eventually learned the two men had been sexually abusing their adopted sons, prosecutors said. The abuse began a “few years before the search warrant was executed,” officials said. “Those involved with the investigation and prosecution of this case will never forget what they had to see and hear in this case,” Randy McGinley, the Alcovy district attorney, said in the release. “These two defendants truly created a house of horrors and put their extremely dark desires above everything and everyone else. However, the depth of the defendants’ depravity, which is as deep as it gets, is not greater than the resolve of those that fought for justice and the strength of the victims in this case. The resolve I have seen from these two young victims over the last two years is truly inspiring,” While searching, officers reported finding electronic evidence showing the two men sexually abusing the boys on different occasions throughout different rooms in the home. Different cell phones also contained graphic images and videos of the abuse along with graphic text messages, officials said. The evidence led officials to Luis Vizcarro-Sanchez after they saw he had been receiving messages from one of the men about the sexual abuse of one of the victims, officials said. Vizcarro-Sanchez pleaded guilty to pandering for a person under 18 and was sentenced, the release said. McClatchy News reached out to the Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office on Dec. 23 to clarify his sentencing and was awaiting a response. In August, William Zulock pleaded guilty to aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, incest, and sexual exploitation of children, officials said. In October, Zachary Zulock pleaded guilty to aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, incest, sodomy, sexual exploitation of children and pandering of a person under 18. They were sentenced to 100 years in prison followed by life on probation and will not be eligible for parole for the entire 100 years, officials said. During the vice presidential debate in October, Vice President-elect JD Vance claimed there are “320,000 children that DHS has effectively lost.” President-elect Donald Trump made similar remarks throughout his campaign, including at an Arizona rally where he claimed “325,000 migrant children are gone, they’re missing.” Multiple VERIFY readers have asked us if that statistic is accurate. U.S. Department of Homeland Security report published in August 2024 Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) Michelle Mittelstadt, director of communications at the Migration Policy Institute told VERIFY. The 320,000 number that Vance and others have referenced comes from a Department of Homeland Security report published in August 2024. The count also includes children who were released during Donald Trump’s presidency, in addition to Biden’s administration. That report said federal authorities may not be able to monitor the locations of about 320,000 unaccompanied migrant children who had been released from federal custody between 2018 and 2023, due in part to poor communication between agencies. But the report did not say that all of the children are lost or missing. Experts also attribute the number of unaccounted for children to missing paperwork – not children who are actually endangered or missing. Instead, the report is referring to the government being unable to track the children after being released from custody. The DHS report “explains that 32,000 unaccompanied children were ordered deported for missing a court hearing from 2019 to 2023,” and that Immigration and Customs Enforcement “had not filed charging documents to start the removal process for 291,000 unaccompanied children who entered the country over that time period,” Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, policy director of the American Immigration Council explained to VERIFY. The claims online combine the 32,000 and the 291,000 counts that appear in the report. Although DHS has stated its inability to monitor the approximate 320,000 migrant children in the United States who did not appear for a hearing or receive a notice, it has not declared them to be missing. There are many factors as to why a child may not have appeared for a hearing or received a notice, including a lack of communication between government agencies to secure the correct mailing address or a guardian’s inability to take them to court. “The issue is a paperwork one – both with ICE not having contact with these minors since their release from HHS custody and lack of communication between ICE and the Justice Department or by a federal agency with the child’s sponsor,” Michelle Mittelstadt, director of communications at the Migration Policy Institute told VERIFY. “The lack of a current address on file does not mean that the children have been trafficked, are lost, or that their parents or sponsors are purposely evading immigration proceedings. Quite the contrary, a majority of the children may be residing in loving homes, attending school, and acclimating to their new surroundings after being reunited with family members in the United States,” an Immigration Impact article explains . Many of the unaccounted for children may have been separated from their parents under Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy, which required children to be separated from their parents during Trump’s first administration. “Upon separation from their families, children are officially labeled ‘unaccompanied alien children,’ before being sent into government custody or foster care, a City of Philadelphia Action Guide explains . The New England Patriots have had one of the worst offensive line units in the league this season, and that was on full display again on Sunday in their 34-15 loss to the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. On the Tuesday after the loss, the Patriots announced a pair of roster moves on the offensive line, as they've released left guard Michael Jordan and claimed Lester Cotton off waivers. New England originally signed Jordan back in January, but he started the 2024 season on the team's practice squad. After he was elevated for their first two games, he was signed to the active roster. He started 11 games this year (all at left guard), receiving a 51.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. Cotton, 28, was waived on Monday by the Miami Dolphins. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 out of Alabama. After appearing in 15 games (starting one) for the Raiders from 2019-22, he appeared in 28 (starting eight) for the Dolphins from 2022-24.
