The financial terms of the deal with Terlato Artisan Spirits were not disclosed. Terlato Artisan Spirits is a subsidiary of fourth-generation family-owned and operated Terlato Wine Group, known for its Chimney Rock line of wines. Set up in 2019 by former attorney and chef Markus Kypreos, Blackland Distillery’s products include a rye whiskey, bourbons, a vodka and a gin. The distillery is named for the Blackland Prairie region of North Texas. Kypreos partnered with Fort Worth-based TexMalt to source its local grain that serves as the foundation of its spirits, including the rarely used triticale, a hybrid of wheat and rye. “While we’ve seen remarkable growth over the past five years, a strategic partner was critical to accelerating our expansion and elevating our brand to a national and global stage,” Kypreos said. Get essential daily news for the Fort Worth area. Sign up for insightful, in-depth stories — completely free. Kypreos said he had been working on the deal for about a year. The structure of the deal will allow for continued growth while maintaining the local flavor and character of the products, he said. “Terlato has been a little bit wary, seeing some acquisitions in the past, and they wanted to keep the essence of what has made Blackland successful,” he said. “They were adamant about keeping everyone here and making sure that we were committed to growing the brand the right way, and not just buy a company and have everybody go away.” Illinois-based Terlato has a portfolio of more than 85 wine and spirit brands from producers in more than a dozen countries. The company is also a leading wine marketer to restaurants. The agreement with Terlato was also attractive because they use the same distributor, Southern Glazer’s, Kypreos said. Blackland currently distributes its lines of whiskey, bourbon, gin and vodka in 12 states, but this will take the company’s spirits nationwide. “They have that national distribution agreement with Southern, and they have the infrastructure on hand and the experience and the leverage to be able to not only help us with a national distribution launch, but to really help us on the back end doing anything,” he said. For Terlato, the agreement also gives them better access to the growing Texas market, Kypreos said. “Everybody wants to come to Fort Worth, to Texas, so this gives them a presence here,” he said. Partnering with Blackland Distillery is another step in growing Terlato’s spirits business, said Bill Terlato, president and CEO of Terlato Wine Group. “In the past few years, we have expanded our spirits business and made a series of progressive steps in developing our luxury portfolio,” he said in a statement. In 2023, Terlato acquired Riazul, a Mexico-based tequila maker, to add to its spirits portfolio. Kypreos said Blackland Distillery will retain all its 22 employees and continue to invest locally. The distillery operates a tasting room and cocktail bar in the Foundry District that is open Wednesday through Saturday. “Our goal still is to win Texas and do the best we can, because this is our home base,” he said. “This is where we are, where we were founded. And it’s great that we’re trying to go big and scale nationally, but it will always be Fort Worth first and Texas first, above everything else.” Bob Francis is business editor for the Fort Worth Report. Rosenblatt analyst Steve Frankel maintained a Buy rating on Meta Platforms Inc META with a price target of $811 . The stock is currently featured among the best ideas for the first half of 2025, reflecting key themes across Rosenblatt’s research universe. Meta is in the midst of an impressive and durable artificial intelligence-driven growth renaissance, he says. Revenues rose 22% in the first nine months of 2024 after growing 16% in 2023 and dipping 1% in 2022. Also Read: Instagram’s Ad Revenue Could Hit $32 Billion by 2025, Driving Meta’s Growth: Report The growth is principally advertising, which accounts for 98% of sales, and AI-driven. AI is driving up daily usage on Facebook and Instagram, bolstering reel traction and improving ad efficiency. Meta uses AI to adjust ad loads better, improve action sequences tied to targeting and executing ads, and help advertisers create and manage campaigns, Rosenblatt explained. Ad revenue rose 19% in the third quarter of 2024, only 300 bps slower than the 22% growth of the second quarter of 2024, despite an 11.5 percentage point stiffer comparison. From here, comparisons are steadier, suggesting recent traction can continue. Frankel estimates 19% revenue growth in the fourth quarter of 2024, within the 12% to 20% guidance. We sustain that growth estimate into 2025. With this revenue growth, Meta has room to absorb more investment. The analyst assumes capex would increase 20% in 2025 to $46.6 billion, nearly flat as a percentage of sales. Hea also expects expense growth of 14% in 2025, accelerating from an 11% rise in 2024, and has adjusted EBITDA margins rising 110 bps to 62.6%. Meta has nearly 3.3 billion people using its family of services daily. Its revenue growth affords more AI investment growth than others, a backdrop allowing AI-driven marketing services to improve more than others. With its business primarily performance marketing, a better marketing mousetrap supports share gains, the analyst says. One risk is global trade volatility. Out-of-region revenue (mainly China and Asia marketers buying ads in the US) was 7% of Meta ad revenue in 2023 and dropped to 5% in the third quarter of 2024. One could imagine a trade war generating disruption once President-elect Trump officially takes office. However, it is not clear that Trump wants that. He may be threatening tariffs to seek concessions. In a trade war, Chinese and Asian marketers like Temu and Shein could also react by sourcing more locally, supporting continued marketing. Meta And TikTok TikTok could be a hedge. If the Supreme Court allows the law requiring a TikTok sale or ban to stand, then TikTok’s fate would rest in Trump’s hands, and he would have the ability to interpret and enforce legislation or push for new legislation. His recent statements of support for TikTok suggest that he believes trade concessions from China could be won in return for keeping the app. Alternatively, a whole-out trade war could result in Trump allowing a TikTok ban to come into effect. Price Action: META stock is up 2.55% at $600.15 at last check Monday. Pete Hegseth returned to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to meet with lawmakers in an effort to protect his bid to lead the Pentagon amid growing questions about his personal conduct. "No," Hegseth said when asked if he would be dropping out. Reports indicate that the Trump transition team is considering potential replacements, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and incoming Trump national security advisor Michael Waltz, according to the Associated Press. "I believe that we need an FBI background check to evaluate the allegations," said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. The Trump transition team signed a "memorandum of understanding" allowing the Justice Department to conduct background checks on nominees and staff. This is an essential step for a smooth transition of power, enabling Trump's future administration to obtain security clearances before Inauguration Day to access classified information. "I've talked to 5 to 10 Republicans who have said to me, they're just waiting for the right moment to say no to Pete Hegseth," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. Hegseth called the allegations "BS stories" on social media, stating he won't back down as he worked to shore up support with senators on Wednesday. "It's been a wonderful process to go through and meet with senators, especially members of the Armed Services Committee whose passion is the Defense Department," Hegseth said. "It was a frank and thorough conversation," said Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, a former combat veteran whose work has focused on trying to stamp out sexual assault in the military. The senator's support is considered critical in the tightly divided Senate. If all Senate Democrats vote against Hegseth, he can only afford four Republican defectors. Hegseth's mother, Penelope Hegseth, defended her son on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday morning, despite a controversial email she sent him chastising his character. Hegseth "is not that man he was seven years ago, and I am not that mother," Penelope Hegseth said, discussing a 2018 email where she told her son he "belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around and uses women for his own power and ego." Penelope Hegseth said she quickly apologized for the email and said she sent it in an emotional state. In recent days, there has been a wave of anticipation and excitement in the gaming community as several foreign media outlets have been speculating and predicting upcoming game announcements at The Game Awards (TGA) event.
