Kato Masschelein
Kato Masschelein studied History and Cultural Management, and has been active at Workshop Intangible Heritage since 2021. She organises the network event ‘Long live living heritage!’ bringing together the wide network of heritage communities and actors to get to know each other and learn more about intangible heritage. Kato also coordinated the 2023 communication campaign in Flanders to make the term ‘intangible heritage’ more known by the broader public. Kato’s role and commitment lies in working with heritage communities, supporting and helping them keep their heritage alive.
That is why Kato will also be following the journey of Carrilion culture in Mechelen as a pilot in this Living Heritage Journeys project. She will make sure the community behind this intangible heritage practice is supported and always considered when working with tourism. Furthermore, Kato is responsible for the project’s communication and will be making sure that everybody who is interested gets to follow the journey of this project.
