Jorijn Neyrinck
Jorijn Neyrinck is comparative anthropologist and director of the organisation ‘Workshop intangible heritage’.
Since 2003, she has been involved in the field regarding the development of policies and network cooperation around living heritage. In recent years, she has been actively engaged in a number of projects, including the ICH and Museums Project (IMP) in Europe (2017-2020), the steering committee of the ICH NGO Forum (until 2018) and, since 2021, of the European Network of Focal Points for the UNESCO 2003 Convention (ENFP). Furthermore, Jorijn is active within the Global Network of facilitators for the Capacity Building Programme for the 2003 Convention, and she has provided advisory services in the Evaluation Body (2020-2022). In Belgium,her home country, she’s also active as Vice-Chair of the Flemish Commission for UNESCO.
Jorijn has been working on the issues of craftership, tourism and entrepreneurship for many years. Among others, she was involved in the Handmade in Brugge pilot, in the Future for Crafts publication current research projects ‘Crafting Futures’ and Tracks4Crafts. Also in this respect, since 2019 she has led the development of the ICH and Sustainable Tourism online web dossier on ICH and Sustainable tourism by the ICH NGO Forum Research Working Group, to address the evolving questions and issues related to the economic dimensions of safeguarding living heritage in the implementation of the 2003 Convention.
Jorijn takes a role as cultural broker in the field, building bridges between governments, institutions, ICH communities and groups, civil society and many others. To this end, she engages in a range of initiatives ranging from capacity building, action research, spaces for dialogue, methodological tools, digital platforms, publications etc.
