Izabela Okręglicka
Izabela Okręglicka, MA, is a curator at the Intangible Heritage Interpretation Centre of Krakow at the Krakow Museum. She completed Master's studies in Ethnology, Postgraduate Studies in Museum Studies at the Jagiellonian University and postgraduate studies in public relations at the Tischner European University. Over the course of her 12-year career, she has worked with some of Krakow's premier museum institutions. What she values most in her work are contacts with depositaries of Polish traditions, discovering the richness of local heritage and undertaking activities related to its popularisation and protection. In 2020, she was the project manager for the Krakow nativity scene on the UNESCO list.The following years, she managed a two-year project, "Preserving the tradition of Krakow nativity scene making", under the "Folk and Traditional Culture" programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Because of her experience on the field, she’s the secretary of the jury of the annual Krakow Nativity Scene Competition and the deputy curator of the post-competition exhibitions. Author of several articles in various publications on the ethnography of Krakow and Lesser, she has experiences in field research work and is a member of several organisations such as the Polish Ethnographical Society and the Krakow Intangible Heritage team.
In her free time, she wanders around Poland and the world. She’s the conqueror of the crown of Polish mountains.
