Sub-inspector Vikas Kumar, who is in charge of the cybercrime police station in Bhiwani, said the complaint was lodged in 2022 by an ex-serviceman residing in the area. According to the police, the complainant alleged that he came across a stock market-related link on Facebook. After clicking the link, he joined a WhatsApp group named Fans Wealth Exchange Group. The group admin then added him to several other WhatsApp groups. The complainant was then misled into opening a foreign investment account and trading with the fraudsters. They deceitfully transferred Rs 62.22 lakh into various bank accounts. Later, citing a low credit score, they demanded Rs 30 lakh more. Based on this complaint, the police registered a case under sections 419 and 420 of the IPC on April 22, 2022. Adding to those headwinds: an incoming new U.S. president who has disparaged government support for electric vehicles. China is the exception. Driven by government subsidies and mandates, vehicles with electric motors, including plug-in hybrids that combine electric and fossil fuel motors, topped 50% of sales in the month of July. Concerns about range, charging infrastructure and higher prices are sore points among both electric car enthusiasts and skeptics in Europe and the U.S. Solar panels power charging at Detlef Mueller-Salis’ home in Mainz, Germany, so he thought he was all set to go electric. But range concerns, charging times and confusing charging payment methods proved frustrating. So after four years, he and his wife sold their Porsche Taycan and Fiat 500 electrics and bought a BMW 5-Series and a Volkswagen Polo, both internal combustion. The smaller Fiat could run about 136 miles on a charge in summer and 112 in winter, he said, against the manufacturer’s specification of 198 miles. Constantly checking the battery before quick trips to visit grandchildren and elderly parents grew annoying. So did going on vacation with payment cards from five charging plans. The Porsche took 30 minutes to charge instead of the 22 minutes advertised, not a huge difference but “not what the company promised,” said Mueller-Salis, who is retired from a logistics company. Driving fast on the autobahn reduced range so that “you paid for it with charging time.” Both retirees in their 70s, Ken and Roxanne Honeycutt mainly drive their used Kia Soul around their town near Oakland, California. They charge the EV, with a range of about 111 miles, in their garage and don’t rely much on public infrastructure. But for longer trips they have to plan fast-charging stops ahead of time. “We wanted to try it,” Roxanne said of the EV. “Sometimes we found that the charging stations don’t always work, they’re broken down, so that gives you a little bit of anxiety if you know, OK, I need to charge.” On one cold, rainy January day, the Soul’s range dropped faster than expected, so they had to stop twice to charge. Another time, they hit multiple nonfunctioning chargers — even in California, where EV adoption leads the rest of the country. Their range dropped to 13 miles. “We’re used to having a gas station on every corner, 24 hours a day,” Roxanne said, adding they still like the vehicle. Electric cars aren’t going away. They are essential for planet-warming carbon emissions reductions governments agreed to under the 2015 Paris climate agreement. Electrified vehicle sales will reach 17 million this year, or one car in five sold globally, according to the International Energy Agency. That includes plug-in hybrids that combine electric with internal combustion motors. But about 60% of those sales are in China. In Europe, sales of electric-only cars fell 5.8% in January-September from a year earlier, while their market share fell to 13% from 14%. Pure EVs accounted for 8% of overall U.S. vehicle sales in October. So, the market is growing, but sales slowed. They’re not plunging, but they’re not yet growing fast enough to meet climate goals. Higher prices matter. A Volkswagen ID. 3 hatchback costs about $42,090, compared to the similar-sized Volkswagen Golf fuel engine version at $29,136, according to the ADAC auto association. U.S. EV prices have fallen significantly since 2022, but the average price in October for a new one, $56,902, still exceeded the average $48,623 for a new vehicle. Cost remains an issue for the more mainstream American consumers EV makers hope to target, according to a recent poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago. Uncertainty over purchase subsidies also complicates price comparisons. EV sales plunged in Germany early this year after the government abruptly canceled the purchase premium of roughly $7,100 for cars up to $42,000 and about $4,700 for cars up to about $68,000. ADAC says that means most internal combustion models are a better deal over a car’s lifetime. Conservative political parties and the industry are now questioning the EU’s goal of eliminating most fuel engine vehicles by 2035, a decision that’s up for review in 2026. The European Auto Manufacturers’ Association is urging that carbon dioxide limits, which carmakers must meet by 2026 or face heavy fines, be relaxed. Some carmakers have pushed back electrification plans. Republican President-elect Donald Trump vowed to end what he called the Democratic Biden administration’s EV “mandate,” though he softened his anti-EV stance as his ties with Tesla CEO Elon Musk grew closer. Automakers are not required to sell EVs under the Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas emissions standards regulating tailpipe pollution, though they need EVs to make up at least 56% of their total sales to meet the ambitious standards for cutting emissions. Trump may also eliminate critical EV tax credits. Even if fewer buyers choose EVs, tax credits or not, auto companies show no intention of fully retreating from the transition away from gas-burning cars and trucks. China’s auto market, the world’s largest, was transformed by billions of dollars in subsidies, with EV sales reaching 25.8% of the 13.5 million vehicles sold in January-August, according to the China Passenger Car Association. The government is encouraging car buyers to go electric, and many are buying EVs or plug-in hybrids under an economic stimulus program. The phasing out of earlier subsidies in 2022 unleashed a fierce price war, toppling some weaker automakers. Some Chinese EVs sell for less than $20,000 in their home market. The government push encouraged many start-ups that took the Tesla model and ran with it. They simplified car designs to cut costs and filled interiors with gadgetry appealing to a smartphone-savvy generation. The EV saves him about $7 in fuel costs for every 62 miles, he said, which would add up to $5,600 over two years. The sedan’s navigation system reminds him to recharge after driving a distance of his choosing. “It will tell you if there are charging stations ahead and if anyone is using them,” he said. Beijing tech worker Shang Wenting said her family hardly uses its gasoline-powered car anymore except for on long trips, preferring a sapphire Tesla Model Y that cost about $37,000. During a weekly trip to a charging station 10 minutes from her home, Shang said the Tesla is cheaper to drive and she loves its “smart features,” like an energy recovery system that means she can press on the accelerator less. “It feels like switching from an old phone to a smartphone,” she said. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jalen Hurts remained in the NFL's concussion protocol on Monday, limiting his ability to practice this week for the Philadelphia Eagles and casting doubt on his availability for Sunday's game against Dallas. If Hurts can't play, the Eagles would turn to backup Kenny Pickett — who suffered a rib injury and couldn't protect a big lead in a 36-33 loss to Washington — with third-stringer Tanner McKee on deck. The Eagles (12-3) need to win one more game over the final two to clinch an NFC East title and one of the conference's top two seeds. Coach Nick Sirianni gave no additional health update on Hurts but did say the QB who led the Eagles to 10 straight wins before he was forced out with the head injury wouldn't need much time this week to get ready against the Cowboys, if he was cleared. “Jalen knows how to prepare,” Sirianni said. “He knows how to get himself ready. He's a true pro." The Eagles are 9 1/2-point favorites over the division rival Cowboys (7-8), per BetMGM Sportsbook. Compared to the bigger players like Meta’s platforms or X, Bluesky has a “quite different” value system, said Claire Wardle, a professor at Cornell University and an expert in misinformation. This includes giving users more control over their experience. “The first generation of social media platforms connected the world, but ended up consolidating power in the hands of a few corporations and their leaders,” Bluesky said on its blog in March. “Our online experience doesn’t have to depend on billionaires unilaterally making decisions over what we see. On an open social network like Bluesky, you can shape your experience for yourself.” Because of this mindset, Bluesky has achieved a scrappy underdog status that attracted users who grew tired of the big players. “People had this idea that it was going to be a different type of social network,” Wardle said. “But the truth is, when you get lots of people in a place and there are eyeballs, it means that it’s in other people’s interests to use bots to create, you know, information that aligns with their perspective.” Little data has emerged to help quantify the rise in impersonator accounts, artificial intelligence-fueled networks and other potentially harmful content on Bluesky. But in recent weeks, users began reporting large numbers of apparent AI bots following them, posting plagiarized articles or making seemingly automated divisive comments in replies. Lion Cassens, a Bluesky user and doctoral candidate in the Netherlands, found one such network by accident — a group of German-language accounts with similar bios and AI-generated profile pictures posting in replies to three German newspapers. “I noticed some weird replies under a news post by the German newspaper ‘Die Ziet,’” he said in an email to The Associated Press. “I have a lot of trust in the moderation mechanism on Bluesky, especially compared to Twitter since the layoffs and due to Musk’s more radical stance on freedom of speech. But AI bots are a big challenge, as they will only improve. I hope social media can keep up with that.” Cassens said the bots’ messages have been relatively innocuous so far, but he was concerned about how they could be repurposed in the future to mislead. There are also signs that foreign disinformation narratives have made their way to Bluesky. The disinformation research group Alethea pointed to one low-traction post sharing a false claim about ABC News that had circulated on Russian Telegram channels. Copycat accounts are another challenge. In late November, Alexios Mantzarlis, director of the Security, Trust and Safety Initiative at Cornell Tech, found that of the top 100 most followed named individuals on Bluesky, 44% at least one duplicate account posing as them. Two weeks later, Mantzarlis said Bluesky removed around two-thirds of the duplicate accounts he initiallydetected — a sign the site was aware of the issue and attempting to address it. After a first-quarter handoff for nine yards, Marks laid on the turf for a few beats before stumbling to his feet, appearing slightly disoriented as he entered a medical tent on USC’s sideline. He eventually returned to the sideline as redshirt freshman Quinten Joyner took his place, but walked off into the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum tunnel at the two-minute mark of the first half as the CBS broadcast reported he’d be out for the rest of the afternoon . It was a massive loss for USC’s offense, and could’ve served as the end of Marks’ time in a Trojans jersey depending on his bowl-game decision. If so, what a run it has been for the Mississippi State transfer: finishing with 1,133 yards on the ground in 12 games, putting together one of the more complete seasons by any USC running back in recent memory. Enjoy the hours to come.Born and raised in deep-blue Santa Fe and a registered Democrat, Dominic Montoya seems like a fairly safe bet to be a Kamala Harris voter. But that isn't how it went in November, amid his concerns about wars overseas and the direction of the economy in the U.S. "There's many aspects that contributed to me voting for Trump," said Montoya, who was shopping at a south-side grocery store on Airport Road this week. "I think crime and also drugs have increased, especially fentanyl, I think everywhere." He's not alone. Freddie Lopez's great-grandfather voted for Democrats, he said. But that has not been the path for Lopez, another Santa Fe native who bucked the trend and supported Republican President-elect Donald Trump. "When you are born, you pretty much get branded with that stamp of Democrats," said Lopez, 23. "Our family goes back to being generations of Democrats. But in reality, what have Democrats done for Hispanics?" Receiving about 24% of the vote, a 2-point improvement from 2020, Trump received no mandate in Santa Fe County. Yet precinct data reviewed by The New Mexican illustrates that, particularly in polling locations that are home to higher numbers of Hispanic voters on the city's south side, the Republican set to return to the Oval Office on Jan. 20 made noticeable inroads. "I think the reason for that is many voters, particularly here on the south side where we have a majority-minority population of Hispanics, are [concerned about] the economy. People are struggling to put food on the table," said Lopez, the incoming first vice chair of the Republican Party of Santa Fe County. A common narrative that emerged from the Nov. 5 election is Trump made gains around the nation in counties with high Latino populations. Even in Santa Fe County, where Trump did about 2 points better overall than in 2020, his improved performance stands out most in precincts located in City Council District 3, the city's most heavily Hispanic area. According to a 2022 city Of Santa Fe document , about 78% of the area's population was Hispanic at that time. In one precinct off of Airport Road, Trump went from winning 21% of the vote in 2020 to 36% last month. But one never has to look far in Santa Fe County, where Harris had her best performance in New Mexico in this year's presidential race with 73% of the vote, to find people who are no fans of Trump. Also grocery shopping earlier this week on the city's south side, Diego Sagredo expressed surprise that higher numbers of Hispanic voters supported Trump this year. "I don't understand why ... Latino people voted for him," Sagredo said. Sagredo, who said he hopes Trump's tenure does not impact Latinos negatively, was asked about Trump's vow to carry out the "largest deportation" in American history. "And still people voted for him? I don't know why," Sagredo said. Although he lost New Mexico, Trump made inroads almost everywhere, picking up votes in most counties and losing the state by just 6 percentage points compared to 11 in 2020, the best showing for a Republican since President George W. Bush narrowly won the state in 2004. Trump improved on his 2020 performance in each and every District 3 precinct, not factoring in three precincts that were new in 2024 and did not have 2020 data to compare to. Overall, it should be noted Trump was still pummeled even in District 3. His strongest performance there was in Precinct 62, the southernmost precinct in the city, where he scored 37% of the vote. The data still illustrates a shift, however. For example, Precinct 145 spans an area that includes Oliver Road and borders Santa Fe County, far on the city's south side. In 2020, Trump won 21% of the vote there, or 38 votes. This year, 36% of voters, or 69, backed Trump in November. In Precinct 93, which covers an area in the far southwest corner of Santa Fe, Trump's numbers shot up from 23% of the vote in 2020 to 32% this year, from 115 people to 167 people. Trump improved on his 2020 performance by at least 6 percentage points in at least nine precincts in District 3 alone. In District 4, parts of which are also considered part of the south side, at least four precincts saw substantial swings in Trump's favor. Precincts 116 and 109, both of which border District 3, saw 9-point swings toward Trump from 2020 to 2024. Small swings to the tune of 2 or 3 percentage points in either direction were typical of almost all precincts in northern and eastern Santa Fe in council Districts 1 and 2, according to precinct data reviewed by The New Mexican . Harris won majorities in almost every precinct in Santa Fe County, with the exception of some in the conservative Edgewood area. Her 73% of the countywide vote was a slight drop from Biden's 76% share in 2020. Some areas that are normally very blue moved to the right across the country. The New York Times reported in November that Trump won 30% of the vote in New York City last month, a higher share than any Republican presidential nominee has won there since George H.W. Bush in 1988. For Cameron Crawford, a Santa Fe resident who is involved in the local Democratic Party, Democrats have taken Black and Hispanic voters for granted for a long time. "The Republicans really gained ground. And it wasn't even really the down-ballot Republicans. It was Trump," said Crawford, 23, a south-side resident who supported Harris. "And it was because he had a really simple message: 'Prices are too high.' And the Democrats were in office while the prices were too high. "When you're talking about issues that are very niche, as Democrats tend to do, it just doesn't resonate with people who have bigger fish to fry," Crawford continued, adding Democrats need to "stop running these super-soft, consultant-focused campaigns." Besides tapping into concerns about inflation, Lopez — who was Republican Audrey Trujillo's campaign manager when she ran for state Senate this year in District 9, losing to Democrat Cindy Nava — feels Trump capitalized on the perception that crime and lawlessness have shot up. The election played out in a year when concerns about crime and homelessness have been particularly visible on the south side. "I am a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, and the crime has only gotten so much worse," said Lopez. "When you read the newspaper, or even go to the social media of the Santa Fe Police Department, you see nothing but press releases and articles of shootings." Lee Garcia, who represents District 3, is the lone Republican on the City Council. In an interview at a recent south-side event, Garcia downplayed the influence of partisanship in his work on the council. "I never got into my position to try to be the poster-child Republican for Santa Fe," he said. But Garcia does think concerns about crime played a role in his district's voters moving right, as well as a desire for more government accountability. "In terms of the shift of more people voting toward the Republican side, whether it be Trump or anybody else, I think it's because so many people tend to think, 'Look at the crime in our area. Look what's happening here,' " Garcia said. Hyperlocal issues, including the controversy over the Soldiers' Monument, could also begin to play a role in the way voters view partisan politics, said Lopez. "Look at what happened with the obelisk downtown. To me, it's clear as day why many Hispanics are leaving the Democrat Party," Lopez said. "... They haven't taken care of us. We are [ranked] last in everything good. And we are first in everything bad." "We do have to have rules and regulations in our society or we go down the road that we are going down now, which is a lawless society practically," Garcia said. "A lot of judicial reform is needed." Republicans hope to harness the enthusiasm Trump managed to generate to make down-ballot gains. "And now the challenge for Republicans is: Can we keep the momentum going?" Bob Witsenhausen, who chairs the Santa Fe County GOP, said in an interview in November. "Can we channel this momentum into local races that really affect our community almost more?” Crawford said people are looking for populist politicians these days, and Democrats need to be the party for workers. "We need to nominate working-class candidates, people who understand what it means to work two or three jobs to pay rent," said Crawford. "We need to emphasize the Republicans are not your friend," he added. "Their policies are not there to benefit you."

One of the Company's strategic priorities is to advance commercial de-risking of our Midstream business with increased global exports tolling and additional long-term commercial contracting across the value chain. AltaGas has made significant progress on this strategic priority in 2024 and exits the year on a very strong footing. In December, the Company executed several commercial contracts that will provide long-term liquified petroleum gas ("LPG") supply and tolling contracts for its global exports' platform. This includes contracts with existing customers and the addition of new customers. Some of these contracts will take effect in 2027 with LPG volumes that will be added to Canadian supply while others will take near-term effect with export volumes initially flowing through the Ridely Island Propane Export Terminal ("RIPET") and moving to the Ridely Island Energy Export Facility ("REEF") once the facility comes online.
