So he obviously was putting in the extra work with recovery and stuff like that, trying to get the thumb right. That guy’s a fighter. I appreciate him so much, and he does a lot for this program in his three or four years he’s been here.” Redshirt sophomore MJ Morris replaced Edwards, went 12 of 23 for 103 yards, and mixed two touchdown passes with two interceptions. But barring further complications to the thumb or the physical shot he absorbed when his helmet collided with Iowa junior safety Xavier Nwankpa’s with 7:27 left in the third quarter, expect to see Edwards suit up for Saturday’s regular-season finale at No. 4 Penn State (10-1, 7-1). Maryland’s 13-0 deficit at halftime could be viewed as a small victory for the defense. In the first half, Iowa amassed 200 total yards, 139 rushing yards, and 15 first downs while controlling the clock for 22:52. But the offense was forced to settle for a field goal in the red zone and got two wind-aided field goals of 54 and 50 yards from junior kicker Drew Stevens. And after Morris connected with Felton for a 12-yard touchdown with 11:05 left in regulation, the Terps trailed just 19-13 and were probably entertaining thoughts of a comeback similar to the one they accomplished in a 29-28 win against USC on Oct. 19. But on the Hawkeye’ fourth snap of their next series, redshirt freshman running back Kamari Moulton took a handoff around the left end and raced 68 yards to the end zone to help the team reclaim a two-score advantage. That pretty much ended the notion of a Maryland rally. “It was frustrating, but it was just one of those ‘Damn’ moments,” said senior outside linebacker Donnell Brown, who ranked second on the team with nine tackles, including one for loss. “We should’ve had him, but things happen. My thing is, they get a long run, cool, but now we’ve got to bounce back and keep bouncing, and I feel like we did.” After Moulton’s score, Iowa’s defense intercepted Morris twice to essentially seal the outcome, and Locksley was left contemplating how inconsistently the Terps have played this fall. “We’re within six, and that long run kind of took the wind out of our sails,” he said. “It goes back to complementary football on offense, defense and special teams.” Before the game, Maryland honored 22 seniors. That might have been the high point of the day for that group. At least for the present time, the seniors will have to wear the ignominy of the team mired in a four-game losing streak and a stretch of six setbacks in the past seven contests. They embody that fighter’s spirit, and hopefully, that’s something that they’re taking from me because I’m even more motivated to figure this out for our fanbase, for our program.” The seniors should be celebrated for their roles in helping the Terps finish above .500 in each of the previous three years and win three straight bowl games for the first time in school history. That group will be sorely needed if the team harbors any hope of upsetting the Nittany Lions and ending the season on a high note. “We’ve had a good run here, and this gives us an opportunity to hit reset, and we want to do it pretty quickly,” Locksley said. “Next week is part of that reset. So we’ll finish it the right way. One of the pillars of our program is how we finish. This follows the state’s success in declaring 579 gram panchayats TB-free in 2023. Sharing progress made under the state’s TB elimination initiatives at the launch of the nationwide 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign in Panchkula, Saini highlighted that the data of 79,652 patients from Haryana has been uploaded to the Ni-kshay portal. He added that 3.49 lakh TB patients have so far received financial assistance worth ₹ 117.46 crore under the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY). Saini also emphasised Haryana’s adoption of advanced technologies to combat TB. The state has connected X-ray centres to the Indian Plasma Research Institute in Ahmedabad through AI, becoming the second state in the country to do so. Additionally, two cutting-edge microbial culture and DST labs have been established in Rohtak and Karnal, with a third lab under development in Ambala. “To reach vulnerable populations, 59 mobile health vans are conducting TB tests in villages, slums and among daily wage workers, brick kiln workers, and farmers,” Saini said. The state has also increased its designated microscopy centres (DMCs) for sample testing from 358 to 428, with plans to open 131 new DMCs. Handheld X-ray devices with AI capabilities are being deployed across districts for faster diagnostics. The CM assured that all TB diagnostic tests and treatments are being provided free of charge. Patients are also receiving free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in both government and private sectors. “So far, claims worth ₹ 29 crore for 17,500 TB patients have been settled under the scheme. For those not eligible for Ayushman, free treatment is still ensured,” Saini added. Highlighting efforts to treat drug-resistant TB cases, Saini noted the establishment of four nodal drug-resistant TB centres at PGIMS Rohtak and medical colleges in Karnal, Nuh, and Sonipat. Furthermore, district nodal drug-resistant TB centres have been set up in all 22 districts of Haryana. 65 hi-tech mobile vans deployed The Haryana government also launched 65 mobile vans (Ni-kshay vahan) equipped with advanced diagnostic tools in all districts of the state. The mobile vans will target high-risk areas, such as villages and urban settlements. These vehicles are equipped to perform chest X-rays and sputum tests on-site. Results will be available within 24 hours, and treatment for confirmed TB cases will commence immediately. As part of the campaign, the government has also launched the “Nikshay Mitra” initiative, where volunteers adopt TB patients and provide regular support, including follow-ups every 15 days. The campaign includes a detailed micro-planning strategy to maximise reach and effectiveness. Department officials, including ASHA workers and ANMs, will work in collaboration to identify and treat TB patients. The TB treatment is being provided free of cost under the government’s initiative. Patients will also receive ₹ 1,000 per month in their bank accounts to support nutritional needs during treatment. Energy tablets are being distributed as part of the program to ensure faster recovery.

The Prime Minister is set to promise a named, contactable police officer for every neighbourhood in England and Wales as he lays out his “plan for change” on Thursday. In a speech billed as setting out the “next phase” of his Government, Sir Keir Starmer is expected to detail ambitious “milestones” for achieving the five missions laid out in Labour’s manifesto. He will say: “My Government was elected to deliver change, and today marks the next step. People are tired of being promised the world, but short-term sticking plaster politics letting them down.” But Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has already branded the speech an “emergency reset” after a challenging five months in office. Downing Street said the milestones would focus on raising living standards, rebuilding Britain, ending hospital backlogs, putting more police on the beat, giving children the best start in life and securing home-grown energy. The Prime Minister is expected to describe the move as “a relief to millions of people scared to walk their streets they call home”, and promise a range of policing reforms to improve performance alongside £100 million to support neighbourhood policing. Labour has already pledged to recruit 13,000 new police officers, PCSOs and special constables, which would bring the total police workforce to a level above its 2010 peak. Police numbers following the 2010 election, before rising again after 2019 as the previous government pledged to recruit 20,000 police officers. While the number of officers reached record levels, the number of PCSOs and special constables continued to decline. The promise of a named officer for each community is intended to improve relations between the police and the public. “This marks a return to the founding principles of British policing – where officers are part of the communities they serve.” But the Conservatives said only a third of the 13,000 new recruits would be full police officers, while the £100 million would not cover what was needed to pay for them, leading to cuts elsewhere.
