French PM Bayrou defends choices to lead country out of 'difficult situation'

The 60-year-old Matrix star plays Shadow in the upcoming film. Actor Keanu Reeves has said he joined the cast of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 as he is “a big fan” of the series. Reeves, 60, plays Shadow in the latest film adaption of the Sega video game, which will see Sonic, Knuckles and Tails battle him to protect the planet. Speaking at the movie’s London premiere on Tuesday, the Canadian star said: “I’m a big fan, I mean, I really enjoyed the first two films. “I really liked the character of Shadow, so I was really excited to try to be a part of it.” The Matrix actor went on to speak about the differences between voice acting and appearing on screen. He added: “It’s fun to play pretend, I love acting, so it’s fun to try and inhabit another character. “There’s an intensity to doing voice work and specificity, it’s kind of more like doing, it’s its own thing, because it’s kind of like theatre, but no audience. “So it’s like doing radio, and it’s just fun.” Canadian-American actor Jim Carrey co-stars as villain Doctor Eggman, a role he told the PA news agency it was “great” to be playing again. Carrey told PA: “I do like to play a character filled with disdain here and there, the Grinch was that. “But there were other characters like The Truman Show, he’s somebody who loves the world and believes in the world, and believes in the people in his life, and believes in his neighbours, and he’s just a good-hearted soul that finds out there’s something more in the world than what he knows and something beyond his own neighbourhood. “So it’s a lovely story, but they’re all different characters, they all have different desires, and you have to do something special with each one.” He added: “I just let it rip when they say action, it’s just a perfect excuse to be an obstreperous bloviating bag of ill will. “And then of course they say cut, and all of that horrible politeness and needing to be loved seeps back in.” Sonic The Hedgehog 3 will be released in UK cinemas on Friday December 20.

By MICHELLE L. PRICE and ROB GILLIES NEW YORK (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump’s recent dinner with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his visit to Paris for the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral were not just exercises in policy and diplomacy. They were also prime trolling opportunities for Trump. Related Articles National Politics | Trump names Andrew Ferguson as head of Federal Trade Commission to replace Lina Khan National Politics | Biden issues veto threat on bill expanding federal judiciary as partisan split emerges National Politics | Trump lawyers and aide hit with 10 additional felony charges in Wisconsin over 2020 fake electors National Politics | After withdrawing as attorney general nominee, Matt Gaetz lands a talk show on OANN television National Politics | What will happen to Social Security under Trump’s tax plan? Throughout his first term in the White House and during his campaign to return, Trump has spun out countless provocative, antagonizing and mocking statements. There were his belittling nicknames for political opponents, his impressions of other political figures and the plentiful memes he shared on social media. Now that’s he’s preparing to return to the Oval Office, Trump is back at it, and his trolling is attracting more attention — and eyerolls. On Sunday, Trump turned a photo of himself seated near a smiling first lady Jill Biden at the Notre Dame ceremony into a social media promo for his new perfume and cologne line, with the tag line, “A fragrance your enemies can’t resist!” The first lady’s office declined to comment. When Trudeau hastily flew to Florida to meet with Trump last month over the president-elect’s threat to impose a 25% tax on all Canadian products entering the U.S., the Republican tossed out the idea that Canada become the 51st U.S. state. The Canadians passed off the comment as a joke, but Trump has continued to play up the dig, including in a post Tuesday morning on his social media network referring to the prime minister as “Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada.” After decades as an entertainer and tabloid fixture, Trump has a flair for the provocative that is aimed at attracting attention and, in his most recent incarnation as a politician, mobilizing fans. He has long relished poking at his opponents, both to demean and minimize them and to delight supporters who share his irreverent comments and posts widely online and cheer for them in person. Trump, to the joy of his fans, first publicly needled Canada on his social media network a week ago when he posted an AI-generated image that showed him standing on a mountain with a Canadian flag next to him and the caption “Oh Canada!” After his latest post, Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller said Tuesday: “It sounds like we’re living in a episode of South Park.” Trudeau said earlier this week that when it comes to Trump, “his approach will often be to challenge people, to destabilize a negotiating partner, to offer uncertainty and even sometimes a bit of chaos into the well established hallways of democracies and institutions and one of the most important things for us to do is not to freak out, not to panic.” Even Thanksgiving dinner isn’t a trolling-free zone for Trump’s adversaries. On Thanksgiving Day, Trump posted a movie clip from “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” with President Joe Biden and other Democrats’ faces superimposed on the characters in a spoof of the turkey-carving scene. The video shows Trump appearing to explode out of the turkey in a swirl of purple sparks, with the former president stiffly dancing to one of his favorite songs, Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” In his most recent presidential campaign, Trump mocked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, refusing to call his GOP primary opponent by his real name and instead dubbing him “Ron DeSanctimonious.” He added, for good measure, in a post on his Truth Social network: “I will never call Ron DeSanctimonious ‘Meatball’ Ron, as the Fake News is insisting I will.” As he campaigned against Biden, Trump taunted him in online posts and with comments and impressions at his rallies, deriding the president over his intellect, his walk, his golf game and even his beach body. After Vice President Kamala Harris took over Biden’s spot as the Democratic nominee, Trump repeatedly suggested she never worked at McDonalds while in college. Trump, true to form, turned his mocking into a spectacle by appearing at a Pennsylvania McDonalds in October, when he manned the fries station and held an impromptu news conference from the restaurant drive-thru. Trump’s team thinks people should get a sense of humor. “President Trump is a master at messaging and he’s always relatable to the average person, whereas many media members take themselves too seriously and have no concept of anything else other than suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome,” said Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director. “President Trump will Make America Great Again and we are getting back to a sense of optimism after a tumultuous four years.” Though both the Biden and Harris campaigns created and shared memes and launched other stunts to respond to Trump’s taunts, so far America’s neighbors to the north are not taking the bait. “I don’t think we should necessarily look on Truth Social for public policy,” Miller said. Gerald Butts, a former top adviser to Trudeau and a close friend, said Trump brought up the 51st state line to Trudeau repeatedly during Trump’s first term in office. “Oh God,” Butts said Tuesday, “At least a half dozen times.” “This is who he is and what he does. He’s trying to destabilize everybody and make people anxious,” Butts said. “He’s trying to get people on the defensive and anxious and therefore willing to do things they wouldn’t otherwise entertain if they had their wits about them. I don’t know why anybody is surprised by it.” Gillies reported from Toronto. Associated Press writer Darlene Superville contributed to this report.

Speaking a day after he was a unanimous winner of his second MVP, Judge says “It ain’t my money” and adds "that’s never been something on my mind about who gets paid the most.” Judge led the major leagues with 58 homers, 144 RBIs and 133 walks while hitting .322. Noodles and wine are the secret ingredients for a strange new twist in China's doping saga Blame it on the noodles. That's what one Chinese official suggested when anti-doping leaders were looking for answers for the doping scandal that cast a shadow over this year's Olympic swim meet. Earlier this year, reports that 23 Chinese swimmers had tested positive for a banned heart medication emerged. None were sanctioned because Chinese authorities determined the swimmers were contaminated by traces of the drug spread about a hotel kitchen. In a strange twist, the leader of China's anti-doping agency suggested this case could have been similar to one in which criminals were responsible for tainting noodles that were later eaten by another Chinese athlete who also tested positive for the drug. Athletes see climate change as threatening their sports and their health. Some are speaking up BAKU, Azerbaijan (AP) — Pragnya Mohan has been a professional triathlete for nearly a decade, but summers in her native India are now so hot that she can’t train there anymore. And she worries about a day when heat around the world kills her sport entirely. She was among athletes who spoke at the United Nations climate summit in Azerbaijan about the threat global warming poses to them, to fans and to sport itself. They described how extreme weather is making training and competing difficult or impossible. With billions of fans worldwide, some athletes and leagues are trying to get more people to care, and act, on climate change.

The salt and snow were cracking his pads, and although our dog wasn't whining or showing any pain, there was no way that a crack in his pad felt good. We put this on his paws once a day and noticed an improvement. We would take him out to play fetch and apply it the second we came back inside while he was still tired and panting so that he wouldn't lick it all off. It worked well enough that we'll buy it again next winter ." — Todd Snyder Get it from Amazon for $7.29+ (available in two scents). 22. Some miniature spatulas , another Shark Tank- approved product, so you can scoop out every bit of lotion, foundation, jam, ketchup...whatever it is that you're beating to squeeze out the last drops. I get it! It feels like soooo much foundation goes to waste when it's getting low, but not anymore!! The set comes with one spatula with a 6-inch handle and another with a 12-inch handle. Promising review: "So worth it! I'm so happy with it. You will definitely save money using this. I think about how much I could have saved if this was invented 30 years ago. I mostly use it for small makeup jars. I tested out the longer one on an 18-ounce lotion, and it worked fine. Some reviews complain about not being able to get every curve and corner of their container...oh please...You get so much more than you would without it." — Liz Get a set of two from Amazon for $9.99 . 23. A heated shiatsu massage pillow to relieve your sore, tight muscles. Ahhh, we love luxury! Fire this massage pillow up with the included power adaptor and enjoy pre-timed 20-minute sessions with auto shutoff and overheat protection! Promising review: "My wife and I got this pillow for her mom during the holidays and she raved so much we decided to get our own. And what a great decision! This massage pillow provides amazing relief for back and shoulder pain. I have tried so many things, and what I love about this pillow is that I don't have to hold the massager. I can just lean back, place it on the spot on my shoulder or back that is tight, and relax. I have definitely noticed a difference after a month of use — my shoulders are no longer so tense, and the range of motion in my back feels freer. The heat is also a great touch, and the protective sleeve helps to keep it from getting too hot. If you're on the fence about whether or not to buy, I highly recommend!" — Abcxyz Get it from Amazon for $49.25+ (available in five colors). 24. A pack of 40 acne patches because a pimple is NOT ruining our day babe! These patches absorb all the gunk and speed up the pimple-healing process without picking or popping. Psh, what pimple? Promising review: "I ordered these on a whim after a long day of isolation and internet browsing and because I have a terrible habit of picking at spots on my face and making them into something much much worse. These magical spots are life-changing!!! Put them on before bed (or before work) on clean skin and FORGET about them. You don't notice they're there — unless you go to pick at something and then YOU STOP!! Leave them in place for at least six hours and then peel them off. They come off easily (but not so easy that they come off while sleeping) and the amount of 'blech' they suck out is amazing !!! So a spot that was going to erupt into Mount Vesuvius ends up being NOTHING !!!! I've purchased six packages and will keep buying them . An amazing value!" — Jennifer Nothdurft Get a 40-pack from Amazon for $6.11+ (available 80-, 120-, and 200-packs). 25. Seriously, the best. Saucemoto is a small biz founded in 2017. OK, besties, so I have not stopped bragging about my little chicky nuggy dip clip since I got it Christmas 2021. This is by far one of my favorite things I've ever received. I LOVE chicken nuggets. I wanna be a chicken nugget, but I did not like trying to dunk my nuggets while in the car. This thing is so convenient for days that I don't have much time to eat and just have to grab something quick and keep going. Get yourself one if you're nugget-obsessed and overly busy like me; everyone who's seen it in my car has gotten one for themselves and not regretted it! Promising review: " This is the greatest invention . I’m in my car a lot, and anytime I order any fast food, I always have to order dip, doesn’t matter what I’m eating. This thing came in handy not only for me but for my son, too . Perfect for me because it comes with two holders, and I like at least two dips at a time. I know I’m making this out to sound like it’s a billion-dollar invention, but I just love it. It’s a very handy thing to have in your car . I’m forever spilling my sauces all over the place because there is nowhere to put them, and then I saw this and knew I just had to try it. It’s a total game-changer in my car . Promising reviews: "I've been using this brand for a while now...I own a KitchenAid slow cooker, which fits well over the ceramic pot. I cook many recopies on high, med, and low, and keep warm. I use them all, and this bag never fails me ... With this liner, the cleanup is zero for the pot, and you only need to wash your slow cooker lid. It's so easy, and it's one of the greatest inventions. I'm new to slow cooking but have used these liners from day one. Lint catcher is fuller after drying with the cactus and less lint and hair on my clothes ." — KayioAustinChapman "I have two cats, and not a day goes by that my clothes wouldn't be covered in loose fur, even after coming out of the washing machine. Luton boss Rob Edwards declared it was a ‘magical’ feeling to see Elijah Adebayo’s mood-changing last minute goal hit the net to secure a much-needed 2-1 victory over Stoke City at Kenilworth Road this evening. The Hatters had fallen behind early to Tom Cannon’s close range strike only to see Carlton Morris level the scores with 24 minutes on the clock, heading home Jordan Clark’s excellent corner. A tight second half was just about to enter stoppage time when Clark sent another dangerous set-piece into the box which was cleared out to Tom Krauß. Advertisement Advertisement The German midfielder returned it with interest, as Adebayo, who had already seen two shots cleared off the line, was able to divert his attempt over any covering defenders on this occasion for his third goal in three matches. Discussing the manner of the winner, Edwards said: “My initial thought was to look at the linesman. I saw him running back and was ‘yes, okay, I can enjoy that now,’ it’s a good feeling. It is great, I don't think there’s a better feeling. I always know how hard it is for them, it’s a horrible game at times football but it’s a good night for us tonight and it does feel great. "It changes the mood somehow. If we’d have scored in the 70th minute and then seen the game out 2-1, I don’t think the feel around the place would have felt as good as it does now. In that dressing room it was really lively after at the end. There is something magical about a last minute winner, a really good feeling. I think it was deserved, you take those moments and you try and enjoy it.” Having seen Town produce a thoroughly uninspiring display when drawing 1-1 with Swansea City at the weekend, Edwards was far happier with what his team produced this evening, especially having fallen behind inside the opening six minutes. He added: “Overall the performance was good, better than the weekend. I’m proud of how everyone reacted, proud of how everyone reacted after going 1-0 down early on. We showed some real character to get back on the front foot and find a way to win the game, so It was a good night for us in quite difficult circumstances. “I think we’re about 18 points from the past nine games at home, so we’ve been doing that here, it’s away we need to try and find that now. The form here is all right and I’m not concerned about that. We’ve come out on the right side of a number of games, not necessarily with a late winner like that, but tight games. Now we’ve got to try and find consistency which I've been saying for quite a long time, that’s our challenge at the moment, but let’s try and enjoy this one for a night.”

Nick Saban warns Deion Sanders of mistake he could make if he accepts NFL offerA huge crocodile that rose to fame with a cameo in hit film Crocodile Dundee has died. Burt died over the weekend, the Crocosaurus Cove reptile aquarium in Darwin, Australia, said. He was at least 90 years old. “Known for his independent nature, Burt was a confirmed bachelor – an attitude he made clear during his earlier years at a crocodile farm,” Crocosaurus Cove wrote in social media posts. The aquarium added: “He wasn’t just a crocodile, he was a force of nature and a reminder of the power and majesty of these incredible creatures. While his personality could be challenging, it was also what made him so memorable and beloved by those who worked with him and the thousands who visited him over the years.” A saltwater crocodile, Burt was estimated to be more than 16 feet long. He was captured in the 1980s in the Reynolds River and became one of the most well-known crocodiles in the world, according to Crocosaurus Cove. The 1986 film stars Paul Hogan as the rugged crocodile hunter Mick Dundee. In the movie, American Sue Charlton, played by actress Linda Kozlowski, goes to fill her canteen in a watering hole when she is attacked by a crocodile before being saved by Dundee. Burt is briefly shown lunging out of the water. But the creature shown in more detail as Dundee saves the day is apparently something else. The Internet Movie Database says the film made a mistake by depicting an American alligator, which has a blunter snout. The Australian aquarium where Burt had lived since 2008 features a Cage of Death which it says is the nation’s only crocodile dive. It said it planned to honour Burt’s legacy with a commemorative sign “celebrating his extraordinary life and the stories and interactions he shared throughout his time at the park”.
