NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Newcastle’s winning run in the English Premier League came to an abrupt end when goals from Thomas Souček and Aaron Wan-Bissaka gave West Ham a surprise 2-0 win at St. James’ Park on Monday. The Hammers rose into 14th place and the pressure on coach Julen Lopetegui was eased. The London club has been inconsistent all season and Monday’s win was just its fourth in 12 league games. West Ham was worth the win in the end but the three points came courtesy of slack defending by the home side. Emerson whipped in an out-swinging corner after 10 minutes and, with Newcastle defenders rooted to the spot, Souček stole in to nod home the opener. Then eight minutes into the second half, captain Jarrod Bowen found Wan-Bissaka in the penalty box and he was left unchallenged and had time to fire an angled drive past Nick Pope. Newcastle brought on Harvey Barnes, and then Callum Wilson returned from a long-term back injury to make his first appearance of the season but to no avail. The defeat ended a three-game winning streak for Newcastle and left the Saudi Arabia-owned club in ninth place, four points outside the top four. VANCOUVER, BC and BREDA, THE NETHERLANDS / ACCESSWIRE / November 27, 2024 / Organto Foods Inc. (TSXV:OGO)(OTCQB:OGOFF)(FSE:OGF) ("Organto" or "the Company"), a provider of branded, private label and bulk distributed healthy and organic fruit and vegetable products today announced its financial results for the three and nine-month periods ended September 30, 2024. All amounts are expressed in Canadian dollars and in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), except where specifically noted. "We are pleased with our financial results for the third quarter of 2024 which reflect the impact of our operational restructuring which has streamlined our product portfolio, shifted our marketing strategy and re-engineered our ongoing operating costs. We believe the results for the third quarter reflect the benefits of our repositioning efforts, including sales growth of 47% versus the prior year, gross profit dollar growth of 63% versus the prior year, and substantially improved bottom line results versus the prior year that are continuing to improve. Our work is not done, and we remain intently focused on leveraging the positive changes we have made as we drive continued business growth combined with operational improvements, all leading to long-term profitability and sustainability. We also continue to focus on the restructuring of our convertible debenture obligations, which is expected to result in reduced cash outlays and greater operating flexibility. We believe the impact of these initiatives will continue to be apparent as we report our results in the coming quarters." commented Steve Bromley, Chair and Chief Executive Officer. Bromley commented further, "Immediately following the filing of our Financial Statements and Management Discussion and Analysis for the second quarter of 2024, we submitted our application to have the current Cease Trade Order lifted. This process is ongoing, and we are hopeful it will be concluded in the near term. We believe we are now fully current with all financial related filings, and when combined with the performance of our restructured business, are looking forward to an exciting future. We truly appreciate the continued support we have received from our shareholders, debenture holders and key operating partners as we have worked through the restructuring of our business. We remain committed to building a world class foods company focused on serving growing global healthy foods markets with the goal of building long-term shareholder value." Third Quarter 2024 Financial Results Overview As a result of the sales of the three subsidiaries in June 2024, all sales and expenses, as well as any gains and losses relating to the operations of the sold subsidiaries have been eliminated from continuing operations and instead are shown as a single line item, loss from discontinued operations, for both the current period and any comparative historical periods. Sales of $5.2 million versus sales of $3.5 million in the prior year, an increase of 47%, driven by strong growth in sales of organic and fairtrade bananas to European customers. Gross profit of $0.6 million or 11.8% of sales versus $0.4 million or 10.6% of sales in the prior year. Third quarter gross profit includes a one-time favorable adjustment of approximately $104,000 to properly allocate sales commissions to selling, general and administration expenses for the first and second quarters of 2024. Excluding this adjustment, gross profit for the third quarter of 2024 was $0.5 million or 9.8% of sales. Cash overhead costs increased to 19% of sales versus 13% in the prior year. Third quarter 2024 costs include approximately $113,000 related to ongoing restructuring, reorganization and cease trade order activities combined with additional costs to complete the 2023 financial audit. Excluding this, the increase in ongoing costs was driven by the retention of costs and resources which were previously included in sold subsidiaries, offset by the savings realized from our efforts to streamline and simplify the business. The current quarter loss for the period was $0.8 million versus a loss of $1.6 million in the prior year, reflecting improvement as the business has been and continues to be restructured and positioned for future growth and profitability. Year to Date 2024 Financial Results Overview Sales of $14.3 million versus sales of $10.9 million in the prior year, an increase of 31%, driven by strong growth in sales of organic and fairtrade bananas to European customers. Gross profit of $1.2 million or 8.2% of sales versus $1.0 million or 9.4% of sales in the prior year, a dollar increase of 15%. Year-over-year gross profit as a percentage of sales was impacted by currency fluctuations and supply chain costs. Cash overhead costs remained flat at 14% of sales. Our third quarter 2024 included approximately $113,000 related to ongoing restructuring, reorganization and cease trade order activities combined with additional costs to complete the 2023 financial audit. These costs plus incremental costs driven by the retention of resources which were previously included in sold subsidiaries were offset by the savings realized from our efforts to streamline and simplify the business. Gain of $2.6 million on the sales of three of our wholly owned Dutch operating subsidiaries (see July 12, 2024 and June 5, 2024 news releases) as well as a gain of $0.4 million on the dissolution of an inactive subsidiary. Loss for the year of $0.3 million versus a loss of $5.9 million in the prior year, reflecting a substantial improvement as the business has been and continues to be restructured and positioned for future growth and profitability. Working in close synergy with army to prevent infiltration along LoC: IG BSF Kashmir FrontierWEST POINT, N.Y. — Bryson Daily tied the American Athletic Conference record for single-season touchdowns and threw for a season-high 190 yards and a score to lift No. 25 Army to a 29-24 win over UTSA on Saturday. Army (10-1) finished the regular season 8-0 in the AAC and earned the right to host the championship game on Friday. Daily rushed for 147 yards, his academy-record ninth straight 100-yard game, and two touchdowns. Casey Larkin sealed Army’s 10th victory of the season, picking off Owen McCown at the Black Knights’ 10 with 1:14 left. “It was a great team win,” Daily said. “It was great to see the defense plays their hearts out like they’ve done all season. We knew a close game (at home) was coming at some point this season. That was today. I’m just proud of the fight that our guys showed.” Army won its 10th game for the fourth time in program history and third time in Jeff Monken’s 11 years. The Black Knights had outscored their opponents 188-62 in their first five home wins. “To be playing in the conference championship game in the first year is a little improbable,” Monken said. “It’s not something you anticipate. “I’m glad we joined the conference. It’s awesome to be in this position and have a chance to play for the conference championship. That’s not something you take for granted." Army’s defense rose to the challenges all afternoon. Kalib Fortner and Chance Keith combined to stop Brandon High short on 4th-and-1 from UTSA’s 16 on the first play of the fourth quarter. Five plays later, Bryson Daily scored his 24th touchdown of the season from one yard out to give Army a 22-17 lead. Collin Matteson picked off McCown for his first career interception with 11:17 left in the game. Daily scored his conference-tying 25th rushing touchdown, a 42-yard run on the second play following Matteson’s pick with 10:26 remaining in the game UTSA (6-6) fell to 0-6 away from the Alamodome. The Roadrunners opened the second half with McCown’s 23-yard touchdown pass to Devin McCuin on fourth down to take 17-13 lead with10:13left in the third quarter. Army senior kicker Trey Gronotte made a career-high three field goals. Gronotte’s 35-yard kick tied the game at 10-10 as time expired in the first half. Daily capped a 13-play, 75-yard drive with a 41-yard touchdown pass to running back Tyrell Robinson on the game’s opening drive with 7:30remaining in the first quarter. Robinson, a fifth-year senior, scored his first touchdown of the season and 14th in his career. UTSA answered with a touchdown on its first possession, a 10-yard run by Brandon High. High added a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Copyright 2024 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police want to use a new technology tool that uses artificial intelligence to scour social media and the dark net for crimes in progress — and even those being planned. Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia wants to use Dataminr which he said can give real-time information to police. The cost would be covered by a technology grant from the state so it wouldn't cost the city any extra money, according to Gramaglia. He also pointed out that the information it searches is all open source so police would not be accessing private accounts — only information posted publicly. Gramaglia said he got a firsthand look at how it works back in November 2022. He was giving a presentation to the New York City Police Department about the mass shooting at Tops earlier that year when police there informed him that there was another active shooter situation unfolding in Buffalo. It was the thwarted shooting at the Alba da Vida methadone clinic on the West Side of Buffalo. "NYPD was advising us in real time that a guy had walked into the methadone clinic on Virginia Street and began shooting," Gramaglia told me. "That information was being put out on social media instantly as it was happening." Gramaglia said he believes it's important for law enforcement to embrace new technology. "We have to leverage technology. We've got great cops, we have phenomenal detectives, they're out there doing great work. You have to be ahead of the curve. You have to have technology. We need help to get that information to us so that we can action that information better. You're absolutely foolish if you don't leverage technology to make your community safer," Gramaglia said. While the cost would be covered by the state, the Buffalo Common Council still has to approve the purchase. The matter is going to go before the Common Council next week. We'll let you know what happens.PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Trailing by one at the 40-yard line with 14 seconds to play and no timeouts, Illinois coach Bret Bielema sent in a play known as “church” to Luke Altmyer. The quarterback was to hit a receiver who was to go to the ground immediately. The offense would rush to the line of scrimmage and Altmyer would spike the ball to set up a potential winning field goal. Pat Bryant caught the pass at the 22 and then called his own split-second audible. Seeing a path to the end zone, the star receiver ran across the field on the way to the winning touchdown with 4 seconds left, sending the Illini to a wild 38-31 victory over Rutgers on Saturday. “Coach called a perfect play," Bryant said. "A play we run all the time in our two-minute drill. I caught the ball and saw the sideline and saw nobody was over there. I had one guy to beat. I gave him a little move. I heard everybody jump and say ’Get out, get out,' but I put trust in myself and scored a touchdown.” Bryant's ninth TD reception of the season capped a roller-coaster finish to a Big Ten game that featured three lead changes in the final 3:07. Illinois (8-3, 5-3) was down 31-30 when it sent long kicker Ethan Moczulski out for a desperation 58-yard field goal. Rutgers coach Greg Schiano called for a timeout right before Moczulski’s attempt was wide left and about 15 yards short. After the missed field goal was waved off by the timeout, Bielema sent his offense back on the field. “Pat is so aware of his surroundings," Bielema said after Bryant finished with seven catches for a career-high 197 yards. “He saw that corner and took off.” Schiano didn't second-guess his timeout but said he should have called it well before Moczulski kicked. “They made one more play than we did,” Schiano said. Rutgers (6-5, 3-5) gave up a safety on the final kickoff return, throwing a ball out of bounds in the end zone as players passed it around hoping for a miracle touchdown. Altmyer was 12-of-26 passing for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He put Illinois in front with a 30-yard TD run with 3:07 to go. He passed to Josh McCray on the 2-point conversion, making it 30-24. Rutgers responded with a 10-play, 65-yard drive. Athan Kaliakmanis had a 15-yard run on fourth down. He passed to running back Kyle Monangai for a 13-yard TD with 1:08 remaining. Illinois then drove 75 yards in eight plays for the win. “That's big-time football,” Monangai said. "They made a great play at the end of the game. I think we we played our hearts out to the end, to the very end, even that last play. Illinois did the same. They’re a great team. The chips fell their way today.” Story continues below video Kaliakmanis was 18 for 36 for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 13 carries for 84 yards and two TDs. Monangai had a career-high 28 carries for 122 yards. Kaliakmanis found Ian Strong for a 2-yard touchdown in the final seconds of the first half, and he scored on a 1-yard run to lift Rutgers to a 24-15 lead early in the fourth quarter. Illinois responded with Aidan Laughery’s 8-yard TD run, setting the stage for the dramatic finish. The start of the second half was delayed because of a scrum between the teams. There were no punches thrown and the officials called penalties on both schools. Monangai become the third player in Rutgers history to rush for 3,000 yards when he picked up 4 on a third-and-1 carry early in the second quarter. The defending conference rushing champion joins Ray Rice and Terrell Willis in hitting the mark. Illinois: The great finish keeps the Illini in line for its first nine-win season since 2007 and a prestigious bowl game this season. Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights were seconds away from their first in-conference three-game win streak since joining the Big Ten in 2014. Illinois: At Northwestern next Saturday. Rutgers: At Michigan State next Saturday. AP college football: https://apnews.com/hub/college-football and https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-football-poll
Holly Willoughby looked out of this world as she posed on the red carpet at the Robbie Williams' biopic premiere. The former Loose Women presenter, 43, rocked a plunging form-fitting black dress for the premiere and accessorised with a matching black purse. She ditched the jewellery and let the dress have the main stage. Her hair was classically cropped to her usual length as she posed for photos. The star braved the cold ahead of the premiere at Leicester Square. She opted for simple makeup and a pink glossy lip for the occasion. There were many stars at the premiere, including man of the hour Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Fields, Nicola Roberts, Tom Fletcher , Harry Judd, Lisa Snowdon and Andy Serkis. Last month, Holly teased a project as she took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes post at an undisclosed show . She said in the accompanying caption that it was a "night of glorious giggles" and teased she's waiting for its broadcast. The photos showed Holly modelling a floral black dress that had been paired with tights and platform heels. She was seen perched on a radiator in one photo, whilst another showed her stood beside it whilst backstage at the venue. Alongside the photos, she told her followers: "I'll be here, warming my [peach emoji] on the radiator until you get to see what we filmed. A night of glorious giggles." The post was set to the Jimi Hendrix Experience 's Purple Haze. Her social media post comes after it was reported she was spotted for the first time since her former presenting partner Phillip Schofield made his TV return. The star was seen on holiday with her family. Phillip had worked with Holly on the likes of This Morning , prior to him stepping down from the show in May last year, before resigning from ITV altogether. His resignation coincided with him admitting to having had an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a younger colleague whilst on This Morning. He made a shock return to telelvision in Channel 5's Cast Away, where he is thought to have made several references to his former co-presenter. He reportedly mocked the comments she made after he left This Morning. When Phillip first left the show, Holly asked This Morning viewers: "Firstly, are you okay?" Phillip seemingly made a joke about the comment in Cast Away, telling his family: "If you're okay, then we're okay and I'm okay. Are you okay?" GMM stock plunges to 52-week low of $0.22 amid market challengesGREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — After losing to San Francisco in the playoffs three of the last five seasons, the Green Bay Packers wouldn’t mind seeing the 49ers get left out of the postseason entirely. The Packers (7-3) could damage San Francisco’s playoff hopes Sunday by beating the 49ers at Lambeau Field. San Francisco (5-5) dropped to .500 after losing at home to the Seattle Seahawks, though the 49ers remain just a game behind the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West. “I think we’re motivated to keep winning more than anything,” Packers center Josh Myers said. “Obviously, they have knocked us out quite a bit. There’s that extra motivation behind it, but at this point, we’re just trying to churn out wins.” Green Bay is third in the NFC North and two games behind the Detroit Lions, but the Packers appear on track to at least earn a wild-card playoff berth. History suggests their path to a potential Super Bowl would get much clearer if the 49ers aren’t standing in their way. The 49ers trailed 21-14 in the fourth quarter before rallying to beat the Packers 24-21 in the divisional playoffs last year on Christian McCaffrey’s 6-yard touchdown run with 1:07 left. Now it’s the 49ers who are struggling to protect late leads, as they’ve blown fourth-quarter advantages in three games against divisional opponents. “You could look at, ‘Hey, we’re three possessions away from being 8-2,’ but you can’t really live like that,” 49ers tight end George Kittle said. “Those are the mistakes that we’ve made to be 5-5. It’s not exactly where we want to be. It is frustrating. The nice thing is we have seven games left to go out there and play Niners football and take advantage of those opportunities.” Green Bay’s recent history of playoff frustration against the 49ers also includes a 13-10 loss at Lambeau Field in the 2021 divisional playoffs and a 37-20 road defeat in the 2019 NFC championship game. Even the Packers who weren’t around for last season’s playoff loss realize what this game means. “I think one of the first meetings that I was in here, we had a conversation about the Niners beating us,” said Green Bay safety Xavier McKinney, who joined the Packers this season. “So I understand how important it is, and we all do.” Both teams must figure out how to convert red-zone opportunities into touchdowns. The 49ers are scoring touchdowns on just 48.8% of their drives inside an opponent’s 20-yard line to rank 27th in the NFL. The Packers are slightly worse in that regard, scoring touchdowns on 48.7% of their red-zone possessions to rank 28th. In their 20-19 victory at Chicago on Sunday, Green Bay drove to the Bears 5 without scoring on two separate series. Kittle expects to play Sunday after missing the Seahawks game with a hamstring injury, but four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Nick Bosa’s status is uncertain after he hurt his left hip and oblique in that game. Seattle scored both of its TDs after Bosa left in the third quarter with an injury and averaged 2.7 additional yards per play after he got hurt. Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander didn’t play in the second half of the Bears game due to a knee injury that also prevented him from playing in a Nov. 3 loss to Detroit. Green Bay’s defense feasted on turnovers the first part of the season, but hasn’t been as effective in getting those takeaways lately. The Packers have 19 takeaways – already exceeding their 2023 total – but haven’t forced any turnovers in their last two games. 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan hasn’t eased McCaffrey back into the lineup in his return after missing the first eight games with Achilles tendinitis. McCaffrey has played 91% of the 49ers’ offensive snaps the past two weeks. Jordan Mason, who rushed for 685 yards during McCaffrey’s absence, has just five snaps on offense the last two games. Shanahan said he’d like to get Mason more opportunities, but it’s hard to take McCaffrey off the field. Green Bay nearly lost to the Bears because of its third-down struggles on both sides of the ball. The Packers were 1 of 5 on third-down opportunities, while the Bears went 9 of 16. The Packers’ defense could have a tough time correcting that problem against San Francisco, which has converted 45.4% of its third-down situations to rank fourth in the league. Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on his supporters to remain calm in the face of confrontation and provocation from his enemies. Mr Fubara, who made the appeal during the 7th anniversary of the kingship installation of Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, a politician-turned-traditional ruler of the Akoh people in Ahoada East Local Government Area, said when the time is right, the people of the state will know “who is who”. “Let’s ignore the noise some people are making. When the time is right, we will know who is who. “So don’t worry about anything. It is God that has led us from that day till today, and each day we get stronger and stronger. It is only God,” Mr Fubara said. “We are not achieving all this because of our strength or because we are boasting. It is because our strength is built in God. “So, we don’t need to worry about what people are saying. Let the time come, and we will see how it will end.” The governor attributed his survival from the political antics to divine providence and noted that his administration continues to grow stronger despite the expectations of detractors. He urged the people of Akoh to embrace peace, emphasising that development can only thrive in a harmonious environment. “The most important thing is that we must ensure we live peacefully. Development cannot come to your kingdom, and development cannot come to the Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality without peace. “There will be many attempts to bring disunity among you. Try as much as you can to avoid it.” “You know the mechanism of those people: ‘Divide and Rule.’ Try to avoid anything that will bring problems to this kingdom so that we can continue to show that we love you by ensuring we bring meaningful projects that will bring development to the Ekpeye people.” Mr Fubara also commended the traditional ruler for his support and contributions to the success of the administration.
Ingo Rademacher is trying to take ABC back to court over his 2021 firing from General Hospital , and he’s bringing former co-star Steve Burton into it. Rademacher, who played Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the daytime drama for 25 years on and off, was fired in 2021 when he refused to follow the show’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. He sued the soap later that year claiming that he was fired because of his political views and not just the mandate. “I am entitled to a religious exemption against mandatory vaccination for COVID-19 on the basis of my deeply and sincerely held moral belief that my body is endowed by my creator with natural processes to protect me and that its natural integrity cannot ethically be violated by the administration of artificially created copies of genetic material, foreign to nature and experimental,” the actor wrote in an e-mail to Disney HR before his firing, according to Variety . Rademacher lost the initial suit in 2023 when a judge found that because General Hospital also fired Burton, who plays Jason Morgan in the series, this proved the decision was about the health mandate. Rademacher is resurrecting the suit now because Burton was rehired on the series in January 2024. Jason made his official reappearance in March of that year. In Radaemacher’s motion for a new trial, obtained by InTouch , his lawyer argues, “ABC’s re-hiring of Mr. Burton undermines its argument that Ingo’s political beliefs did not play any role in its decision to fire him—to ‘recast’ his role—in 2021...Judge Goorvitch credited ABC’s evidence that the political animus that the General Hospital producers showed toward Ingo was irrelevant because, like other people, including GH actor Steve Burton, it simply could not accommodate Ingo’s objection to COVID-19 vaccination and fired him only for that reason. “That argument was always specious. But it carries even less weight now, given the newly discovered evidence that ABC re-hired [Steve] for General Hospital but did not re-hire Ingo,” his lawyer continued. The documents also claim that GH will never rehire Rademacher because of his outspoken support for Donald Trump during the 2020 election. He hopes to get a new trial and a jury to evaluate his wrongful termination claim. A judgment on the motion is expected in the new year. Rademacher has opened up about how being let go from the show has affected him, sharing on Instagram in November 2023 that he’s been struggling with mental health issues since leaving the series. “To be completely honest, for the first time in my life, I’ve been faced with some mental health struggles. That’s not something I’ve ever had to face before. I’m a lot better now, but the first year was rough,” he said at the time . “On top of that, I really identified as my character on General Hospital for decades, and I could’ve been there and would’ve been there for many more decades to come,” he continued. “This isn’t a boo-hoo me post, it’s just honest. It’s where I’m at.” More Headlines:
