Historic Kimbell Milling Company building finds buyer after concerns over demolitionA high-level team of Punjab officials, including doctors from Government Rajindra Hospital and Patiala health department called on veteran farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at Khanauri and urged him to take medical aid in view of his deteriorating health. The 67-year-old has been fasting since November 26 to press the Centre into accepting the protesting farmers’ demands and has so far refused medical treatment. The state government has formed a team of doctors to monitor his health around the clock. The visit came hours after the Supreme Court questioned the Punjab government’s commitment to save the life of the fasting farmer leader and sought a status report on the next date of hearing scheduled for Saturday. The doctors asked the farm leader to take the required medication through a drip (Intravenous). “Our concern is only that you take the required medication to stay alive and keep fighting your ongoing battle,” a medical expert urged Dallewal. As per the latest blood test reports, accessed by HT, the high levels of ketones in the blood of Dallewal are worrying. His uric acid levels are also up which indicates deranged renal functions. The normal range of Uric acid in males is between 3-7 mg/dL. A team comprising deputy inspector general of police Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Patiala deputy commissioner Preeti Yadav, senior superintendent of police Nanak Singh and others visited the farmer leader. Later Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema also met Dallewal and urged the Centre to give up its “stubborn attitude” and talk to farmers to resolve their issues. Talking to mediapersons Cheema said chief minister Bhagwant Mann will return from abroad on Saturday and Dallewal’s health and related issues will then be taken up with him. When asked about today’s Supreme Court directions, Cheema, said, “I will appeal to the Supreme Court to issue directions to the Union government to fulfil all the demands of protesting farmers at the earliest.” Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar said the Centre does not want to talk to the farmers. “Why is the Centre running away from talks? Why this indifferent attitude towards farmers,” Kohar asked. Farmers, under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have been camping at the Shambhu and the Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after their march to Delhi was stopped by security forces. A “jatha (group)” of 101 farmers attempted to march to Delhi on foot three times between December 6 and 14 but were stopped by security personnel of Haryana.
The USS Zumwalt is at a Mississippi shipyard where workers have installed missile tubes that replace twin turrets from a gun system that was never activated because it was too expensive. Once the system is complete, the Zumwalt will provide a platform for conducting fast, precision strikes from greater distances, adding to the usefulness of the warship. “It was a costly blunder. But the Navy could take victory from the jaws of defeat here, and get some utility out of (the ships) by making them into a hypersonic platform,” said Bryan Clark, a defence analyst at the Hudson Institute. The US has had several types of hypersonic weapons in development for the past two decades, but recent tests by both Russia and China have added pressure to the US military to hasten their production. Hypersonic weapons travel beyond Mach 5, five times the speed of sound, with added manoeuvrability making them harder to shoot down. Last year, The Washington Post newspaper reported that among the documents leaked by former Massachusetts Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira was a defence department briefing that confirmed China had recently tested an intermediate-range hypersonic weapon called the DF-27. While the Pentagon had previously acknowledged the weapon’s development, it had not recognised its testing. One of the US programmes in development and planned for the Zumwalt is the Conventional Prompt Strike. It would launch like a ballistic missile and then release a hypersonic glide vehicle that would travel at speeds seven to eight times faster than the speed of sound before hitting the target. The weapon system is being developed jointly by the Navy and Army. Each of the three Zumwalt-class destroyers would be equipped with four missile tubes, each with three of the missiles for a total of 12 hypersonic weapons per ship. In choosing the Zumwalt, the Navy is attempting to add to the usefulness of a 7.5 billion US dollars (£5.9 billion) warship that is considered by critics to be an expensive mistake despite serving as a test platform for multiple innovations. The Zumwalt was envisioned as providing land-attack capability with an advanced gun system with rocket-assisted projectiles to open the way for Marines to charge ashore. But the system featuring 155mm guns hidden in stealthy turrets was cancelled because each of the rocket-assisted projectiles cost up to one million dollars (£790,000). Despite the stain on their reputation, the three Zumwalt-class destroyers: Zumwalt, Michael Monsoor and Lyndon B Johnson; remain the Navy’s most advanced surface warships in terms of new technologies. Those innovations include electric propulsion, an angular shape to minimise radar signature, an unconventional wave-piercing hull, automated fire and damage control and a composite deckhouse that hides radar and other sensors. The US is accelerating development because hypersonics have been identified as vital to US national security with “survivable and lethal capabilities”, said James Weber, principal director for hypersonics in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Critical Technologies. “Fielding new capabilities that are based on hypersonic technologies is a priority for the defence department to sustain and strengthen our integrated deterrence, and to build enduring advantages,” he said.Rams in search of offensive consistency in New Orleans

AI-generated deepfake videos are a rapidly growing security concern, with recent reports showing 75 percent of organisations have experienced at least one deepfake-related incident within the last 12 months. Digital PR Agency , which represents the types of sectors that might be affected, has provided some advice to Digital Journal on how to spot deepfake videos. Verify the source and context Fake news spread more rapidly than true news on X (previously Twitter), a concerning trend given that nearly 30 percent of Americans rely on social media as a regular news source. Always examine the credibility of the sources behind the content you consume. Is this information coming from a reputable news outlet or a verified official account? If the source is unfamiliar or looks dubious, cross-check the content’s authenticity using reliable news organisations or fact-checking platforms like Google Fact Check Tools. Misinformation often plays on emotional triggers like fear, anger, or outrage to cloud your judgement. When you encounter content that provokes strong emotions, pause and re-assess to ensure you are not being used as a pawn in someone’s game. Observe facial expressions and movements Deepfakes often falter when trying to replicate the intricate details of facial expressions and natural movements. Key areas to scrutinise include microexpressions around the eyes and mouth. Look out for unnatural blinking patterns, disjointed eye movements, or jerky head motions, and check whether the facial expressions align with the conveyed emotions. Details like the uniformity of teeth, hair texture, and facial structure can also reveal deepfakes. A key giveaway is the shape of the face and ears – deepfakes often have slightly off measurements in these areas, with ears being particularly difficult to replicate. Pausing the video and examining the facial features can help you spot these irregularities. Use reverse image and video search tools Leverage reverse image and video search tools to trace the origins of visual content. Uploading an image to Google Reverse Image Search can help identify if it’s AI-generated, manipulated, or being used out of context. For videos, tools like InVID can dissect footage and check for any modifications or previous appearances. These searches allow you to find other copies of the image online, helping you verify its authenticity and uncover potential misuses. Look for digital artefacts and inconsistencies Deepfakes often reveal themselves through subtle digital flaws like blurriness or unnatural pixelation, especially around the edges of faces or objects. Pay attention to inconsistencies in lighting, shadows, reflections, or even an extra finger, that might indicate manipulation. Check for audio-visual synchronisation Spotting a deepfake often comes down to watching the lips closely. Our mouths form specific shapes when pronouncing certain letters, and these movements are tricky for AI to replicate accurately – nearly a third of deepfake videos struggle to match sounds like M, B and P. The Memphis Tigers made two technical free throws in the final minute of their overtime victory over UConn Huskies. The Memphis Tigers won the game by, well, two points in a 99-97 final. But UConn head coach Dan Hurley doesn't believe his technical foul cost his team the game. "I think it was the s--ty calls," he said, per Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. "I would expect to come to play in an event, and I don't know too many back-to-back national championship teams that get that type of a whistle." He also said he believes the technical was issued because he fell to the ground protesting an over-the-back call on an offensive rebound, adding "what I gave the cameras today was Oppenheimer" when discussing how he comes across on camera. "That was a joke," Hurley said of the technical, per Brendan Marks of The Athletic. "I mean, I just watched it ... I had a lot of issues with what went on in the game ... For that call to be made at that point in the game is a complete joke." He didn't stop there when complaining about the whistle: This article will be updated soon to provide more information and analysis.
